Pochettino hails Trippier as 'one of the best English players'

Mauricio Pochettino has hailed Kieran Trippier as one of the best English players in the Premier League.

Hmmm...the article sees Poch praising. Trippier for his passing, crossing and assisting.

That's all well and good, and I concur, Trippier can put in some great crosses.

But not much mention of his defensive elements of his game.

Personally, I think he is a steady player, but don't see him as one of the best English players in the Premier league.

Thought he was a lot better v Watford but he was in acres of space. When he's not putting the crosses in though there isn't much in the + column. He seems to have become a lot less confident going forward lately or maybe it's just teams working him out. Wouldn't be at all surprised if we sold him tbh and brought KWP up to the first team.

Although his performance vs United in the semi somewhat appeared to show him lack ambition to cross, he sits at about a 1 in 4 game assist ratio. Not too shabby.

I just think his pace, or should I say lack off would be the main factor in me disagreeing in the notion that he's one of the best.

Praise is good, and Trippier has indeed has a quite acceptable season. But he isn't even among the best English players in his own club.

Maybe Poch is graduating from Levi's school of business. That praise is aimed at inflating Trip's price.

He is correct, he is one of the best. He is in the England squad so he is one of the 20 or so best players. Probably second best in his position to Walker. I for one am glad we have him and happy to keep him (and KWP) for next season.
