Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has no regrets over failing to add to his squad in the close season, saying his team's impressive start to the Premier League campaign justifies the decision.

Impressive?
We have labored to wins against Newcastle, Cardiff, Huddersfield and Fulham. The bottom 4 teams in the league. The only other 2 wins - 13th and United, the worst United for decades.
Lost both CL games
Lost and drew to Watford
Lost to Liverpool.
Really the only genuine high point is beating a Man United side that's on its knees.
But the point tally is the best for years. Wooptydo.

Let's see what it looks like after we have played Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea in the coming couple of months.

Spot on. Much as I admire Poch, we need to show up against the top teams before we can get excited. I know that we've had injuries but that kind of shows that whilst we do have a great first team, it's not necessarily a massively strong squad.

But he has to say that though mate as an employee he isn't going to start spouting off like say mourhino would do because he has more class than that, however you can pretty much bet that he was hardly ecstatic about the thought of buying no one who would be.

Of course he's not happy he didn't get anyone in. I guess he just means he's justified in not bringing in players just to fill the squad out. To be fair a lot of our players have been way below their usual standards thus far, so if they can start finding some form performances should improve. We have to buy at least a CM in the January window though imo.

We desperately need a CM, but surely the chances of us getting one in January must be next to zero. We couldn't get one in the summer, and January is even harder.

Unless it's Aaron Ramsey on pre-contract lol.

Pochettino's best buys haven't always been the players he's bought, it's the improved performances of the existing ones.
Rose got better when we got Davies.
Walker got better when we got Trippier
Trippier got better when we got Aurrier (TF)
The 3 behind Kane seem to play better as there's more than 3 of them for those positions.

This season, with no one to challenge, no one has stepped it up.

Could it not be that those players just got better through better coaching and because they were getting older an closer to their prime? I mean Kane and Eriksen have improved without anyone pushing them for their spot. I'm not saying competition for places isn't good, but it's not in the grand scheme of things responsible for why players at the club are improving.

Your definitely right about players being below par and a number of them if not all and it's quite remarkable that the team is still riding quite high despite the fact I haven't seen a single decent performance yet from them.
As for incomings in January as much as we need to it looks highly given our track record most of the time during that particular window.

Maybe but going purely on our track record we would have bought 3 or 4 at least in the Summer.

Well done, Pochettino, well done. Quite right indeed. And for me personally, I'm quite content lying on the beach in my fashionable swimsuit when it's raining. Who needs the sun, I say? Am I right?

I remember watching Swansea staying at their own box for the whole 90 mins and the game ended with 0-0. A super boring game against Burnley that ended with 1-1. Those meant to be easy games at home last season.

We're two points off the top. I know that facts get in the way of your axe-grinding, but I wasn't expecting anything lucid.

You mean Janssen and Llorente didn't push Kane? (Tongue in cheek)
No one is pushing Eriksen to be fair.

It's 8 games in.
As I clearly said, let's see what that looks like at the end of November when we've played city, Chelsea and Arsenal.
