A summer filled with major international tournaments never makes for an easy preseason for Premier League clubs.

This article is stating the obvious really. Not sure about the Wanyama comment as I understood he had a visa problem that's why Mason travelled. Mason ahead of Wanyama I don't think so. Anyway a week to the Everton game and I hope we start the season with a win and move forward not backward......we have enough talent its just the mentality that worries me with all recent Spurs teams. Stupid slip ups in games and the lack of a killer touch cost us dearly last season against inferior teams.

Better the players he knows and trusts than throwing £50m at someone who could easily prove to be not worth the money. The Premier League has been littered over the years with overseas stars who weren't worth the money. Spurs learned this lesson the hard way with Roberto Soldado.

2 things worth noting.

1) This is spot on
2) "Lesser" teams rightly aren't scared of expensive bullshit anymore.

Personally I would have liked to have seen one more full squad pre-season game. But I guess it's not so important given we'll be playing a pretty settled squad who all know what they are doing come Everton. I think we can all predict the starting line-up against Everton. I doubt anyone at Everton (including Koeman) could say that.

The teams that win titles usually do so after a quiet summer transfer-wise. It's unusual to accommodate more than max two new signings into a first 11 without dropping quite a lot of points early on. So Chelsea and Leicester and Arsenal should all start the season better than the Manchester clubs and Liverpool. And as the only side who hasn't changed its starting 11, we have to start well!

We won't have Verts in the first XI I suspect. But I think you are right.

The biggest change to my mind is having a second striker who can come on with/for Kane to try and kill off those games we let slip last season. Janssen looks like a proper predator, so perfect for that role.

We won't know if pre-season was successful or not until the real season is well underway.

we often get of to slow start. Away to Everton has a score draw written all over it.
