if we lose to the Spammers then I hope Poch doesn't have a supporter backlash - it will be he's first game in charge and the players have hardly had a chance to play together let alone play his way. Verts, Paulinho and Dembelle haven't even played a friendly under him. If we do lose it won't be for a lack of trying. After saying all that though I honestly think we will win this.

I think the players we have here will actually welcome Poch's methods because most of them played for continental teams where they weren't going to get coddled. The challenge will be better for them to succeed, IMO.

What a completely pointless article. It's just a rehash of older articles and quotes that most will have already seen elsewhere. How the fuck does a journalist get paid to write such dross?

Where are the hot coals? All I see is the contents of a few ash trays tipped onto some grass.

It all sounds great but I get the feeling the media are sharpening their knives eagerly waiting for Poch to fail.

I think it will have the opposite effect and blunt the medias knives.

Either Poch or a new media relations bod at spurs are being very astute, this will nullify any further stories about the squad being unhappy at training. Spurs for a change are in front of the stories and setting the direction they want it to go instead of the previous reactive canned player quotes which never really changed the direction of the story.

The season hasn't started yet, should we lose to West Ham AGAIN, it will kick off not just with the media but on this forum too.
Believe that.

Not expecting much in the first 5/6 games. We have so many players who have not even played in pre-season. I would think any new fitness regime will take a couple of months to start bringing results.

The only problem I have is that just about every manager is supposedly 'harder' than anyone else, wanting tougher training etc. Fitness, systems, teamwork are all important ingredients...let's hope we get a large dose of technical refinement and improved intelligence added to mix

This is the odd paradox; we are told foreign coaches put more emphasis on diet, stamina, physical fitness etc, and make players work much harder in training, but at the same time we are told that the Premiership is the fastest most physical league in the world, and that players from abroad find it a challenge to adapt to the physical demands...

I'm just astounded the Daily Mail has called us "One of the biggest clubs in Europe". It's the nicest thing they've said about us in a decade.
IMO it was more to demonstrate how far Poncho had gone in such short space in time than to give any credence to our status.

Financially, we are one of the biggest clubs in europe - 13th.

There is something very wrong with the system that we are having to pre-qualify for the also-ran europa league.

2 of england's CL places are taken up by the oil clubs. Both clubs would be back in the championship without the doping.

Liverpool, arsenal, everton and spurs would have been a fairer representation of premiership clubs who performed to a good level without aid. We are all easily good enough to make up the numbers in the CL group stages.
