Mauricio Pochettino has stated that Tottenham Hotspur cannot operate in the same way next season as they have for the first five years of his reign.

Same message as last year then. Can't imagine that we won't be seeing some big changes this summer though. I'd rather get some decent players in early doors than faff about going after ones we can't and won't get. Settled squad for pre-season is the stuff of dreams.

I read every word of the article. He says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about transfers, wages or our policy of signing players. It's absolutely vague - intentionally, I'm sure. If he'd said anything, it would be there.

The only comment that remotely bears on the topic basically tells journalists to fuck off and stop asking questions about new players: "One question the other day was 'the depth of the squad is not at the quality of the new stadium' in a press conference. If we start next season talking about that, nothing good is going to happen in the future. The perception and the feeling are not going to be right."

Somehow, they've managed to spin a set of quotes that say "I do not want to discuss changes to the squad, so stop asking" into "Pochettino demands big money players". It's malevolent bullshit. The rest is spin.

I know that isn't going to stop 20 people from posting the usual auto-rants about needing big-money transfers on this thread, but if you can, read only the quotes and ignore the rest of the article.

It seems this article has neglected to include this quote from the interview -
"We are close, but the last step is always the most difficult - and the biggest step. We need to rebuild and it's going to be painful. I think we need to rebuild.

"When people talk about Tottenham they say 'you have an amazing house but you need to put the furniture in. Maybe you need better furniture'. It depends on your budget but that is the reality."

I think that is almost certainly referring to transfers.

I like the house analogy.

When people move house it is not a case of dumping all you old furniture and completely refinishing the new home.

You take with you your current inventory of furniture.

Yes you might want to add to your furniture but you have to buy what fits in with what you currently have. It is not about the value of what you buy, it is more important that it does not clash, and is better/improves on with what you already have.

He directly says, that if we start next season talking about how the squad depth is not at the same level as the stadium, then that is a problem. That is saying, without any inference, that we need to improve our squad depth.

He's right.

I really think we need some new faces in, if it is young players like Grealish, Sessegnon brothers, Aaron or some older experienced players, I do think we need to get it done soon, yes transfers are not easy but we could have got Grealish done early last summer but didn't happen.
we all have seen what happened this season and we are so lucky to be were we are (very happy) but what could have been if we got some new faces in. you can't have the same guys playing every week and not get injuries or loss of form.

I find it hard to accept that we have Spurs fan that believes our current squad requires zero player investment.

Poch follows the line well, and is on club message, but to think he doesn't harbour dreams about what he could achieve at this club if only we invest.

Let's see what happens

Quite an achievement being as it's Football London. Well done.
