Ok this must either be shop window, or some attempt at a motivational speech, because the two of them were very poor last night! (Sissoko it's not a surprise, but Wanyama was below par too)

I thought they were a shocking pairing. If it wasn't for Eriksen constantly dropping bak and showing for the ball I don't know what the outcome might have been. Can't fault their effort but that should be a given at this level.

Yes, Credit to Wanyama who has serious knee problems and is not up to playing every few days. He was poor but did enough.

There’s a very good reason Sissoko is unsung. Poch has to speak up for his players but Sissoko just looks like a competition winner.

We won and they were in the midfield. Not a lot went through them. Sissoko laid a good pass on for Alli, who hit a weak shot when he had all the time in the world.

Reminds me of when Mourinho heaped praise on Fellaini after he'd got stick from the Utd. supporters. Said he was vital to the team blah blah but has hardly played him since and is letting him go at the end of the season. Poch speaks up for his players and I'm all for that but he's also speaking up for his own team selection. If Shelvey's free kick had been 6 inches to the left after Sissoko's daft tackle he might have had a bit more trouble defending him. The pair of them did their best and we got 3 points so no harm done.

Clearly if you take his comments to the press at face value. But then he’s not one to criticise in public.
Well, he seems to have gone out of his way to praise him and didn't need to. Why should we not take him at face value? As Dirty Harry said, a man's got to know his limitations. Sissoko and Poch are aware of his limitations and he therefore is given specific tasks. The fact that he loses it when he has to take a shot is not a surprise, but let's not forget that Dembélé is even more shot-averse.

I think he did need praise him because of the abuse he was getting. Don’t have the transcript but I’m guessing a journo asked him.

They did what they were capable of. We needed creative players last night, and Wanyama and Sissoko are just not creative players. But with Winks and Dyer injured and sick respectively, there's no one on the bench. We really need to address this issue in the summer and get some players who could either spot a pass or to dribble past opponents.

It was a daft tackle, but it was due to an equally daft soft header from Jan. In fact, our heading last night was weird: straight up in the air with very little distance forward.
