Spurs went down to Riyad Mahrez’s early strike but they pushed City back in the second half, Erik Lamela missing a golden chance to equalise in the final minutes. Given that Spurs lost 4-1 and 3-1 to Manchester City last year, and were dominated both times, Pochettino was proud of how his team took the game to City.

I was happy with the performance. Sissokos best game for me. But feel sorry for the team and Poch. The problems caused by the stadium delay are really being felt now and a move in date is all I want for Christmas.

They were better than us, but the real gulf isn't in what's on the pitch. It's what they have on the bench compared to us and how they'll have the option of 14 top class players for every game when we've already been scraping the barrel this season.

Sissokos best game, I'll agree with that but his run with the ball where he failed to find Lamela or anyone else sums up why he will never be a game changer for us. Winks on the other hand looked decent and is ready to step in permanently for an every fading Dembele.
