if the signing of players is a joint responsibility, between the lead scout, Director of Football. Levy and Poch, then why would Poch abdicate his responsibility to keep the fans and media updated on player movements. He is part of the management team.

He is not a physio, but I would expect him to let us know when an injured player might return.

Has Poch been slightly triggered?

Abdicate what responsibility? The responsibility to be polite to dickhead reporters who insist on asking shit-stirring questions?

What could be clearer than this?

My position from now for the future so you know, otherwise every time... I'm not going to talk about signing players, selling players, extending the contract of the players or not extending the contract of the players. That is going to be all through the club to update you if they want.

I'm not going to communicate or talk about that, I'm going to talk about managing the squad that we have. To make clear because in the future if you're going to ask me it'll be a little bit weird because I won't answer because I don't have the answer.

It's a fluent, if somewhat long-winded way to say "fuck off".

He doesn't have a responsibility to update the fans or media about potential signings.

Bit harsh, it was Ally Gold and not a red top. Probably a genuine enquiry on the latest on the situation due to the timing but misjudged Poch’s mood post match.

If I were Pochettino, I wouldn't be making fine distinctions between nice reporters like @Allygold and arsehole reporters from the tabloids. I'd just be telling them all politely to fuck off with the transfer questions.

I remember that at some point there were some news that Toby's camp had burned their bridges to almost every direction, so perhaps it's true.

I have posted some comments on the player in the past. From what I understand, he is looking for some specific things in terms of any new club and things like family and schooling were mentioned to me.

Clubs have definitely come in for him, but the player has the power to say no.

The club should not say anything, similar with Rose. Why give away our bargaining power especially if a player might be coming the other way?

To all the folks that maintain that Poch doesn't have the responsibility to keep fans updated on player movements, are you saying fans do not have a right to information about players (in particular, movements, contracts, injuries), or that it's someone else's job and if so who.

Nowadays fans expect to keep updated and responding to the media scrum, as soulless a job that often is, is just a matter of course today...

It's all about future value. You pay £25m for Toby now and you are unlikely to see a penny back from it whereas you buy Maguire for £80m and the way the market is going, he could be worth £120m in 3-4 years time. From an asset value perspective which ultimately these players are, Maguire would look better on the books of the buying club.

We don't have a right to anything, we're fans not customers.

Anyone who makes a purchase from the club is a customer of the club.

Football clubs don't see it that way.

Of you choose to make a purchase from the club then that's off your own back, what's separating you from someone who chooses not to purchase anything from the club...you're both still fans at the end of the day.

You're not entitled to a damn thing when it comes to transfers. You may pay for a season ticket which entitles you to watch games, that's about it.

Definitely fans but I do think that some clubs do see fans as customers too these days. In any event, I agree with your premise - the club is under no obligation to keep its fans/customers/followers or whatever abreast of every single movement that occurs behind the scenes.
