The most interesting nugget in that article is this aside:

Tottenham are willing to cash in on Roberto Soldado, who has struggled to reproduce his best form at White Hart Lane. Although the full potential cost of the deal to sign the Spaniard from Valencia was set at £26m, Spurs paid only about half of that figure up front and would only need to recoup £13m to avoid making a loss.

That's the first time I've ever read that, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were true. Does anyone else have any supporting info on that?

This training is crucial to the pressing game where youve got to be fit for 90 mins.. this will sort the men from the pussies for sure .. can see a few of our prima donas not liking this very much but can see a few professionals that will be better for it, with him starting this from day 1 we will soon see the players who cant hack it because they will be the ones playing for other teams next season.

You know, MP coming to Spurs may be the making of Holtby as for some reason he strikes me as the type of honest player who would thrive in this type of environment. Who knows though ey

I agree with you here, Holtby could be molded into a role played by Lallana. He ticks all the boxes, certainly.

I've never known the "Bootcamp" philosophy to work?
I doubt any of the top teams have this ethic. Work hard, yes for sure - but double training sessions every day always end up injuring players or wearing them out at key times in the season.
More work with the ball and the system please gaffer.

Even if we did pay only some portion upfront, we are still (unless it is conditional based on performance/achievement) liable to pay the rest of the agreed upon fee. So whether we can sell him for a price higher than an upfront fee does not impact true profitability. It would have to be higher than the entire fee that we are liable to pay.

I can see the likes of Lennon, Adebayor and Dembele coming a cropper from this... either attitude or fitness wise.

Reckon Walker will thrive.

Lennon is an odd choice for your list. He's one of our most responsible players, in terms of tracking back, closing down, harassing opponents and defending from the front. Pochettino may well soon start to notice that his attacking forays rarely end in a goal, but I can't see that he'll have any problems with Lennon's attitude or fitness.

The boot camp idea is more than just about fitness, it's also about building up the team spirit and morale, the idea of everyone pulling together for the team. We could certainly have done with more of that last season!

Totally agree.... But thats so levy! Half of it as the sale price, the other half as performance bonus..... And report it as we broke the bank to bring him in. Heck maybe we can get 20M and make a profit. :ROFLMAO:

Depends how you work double sessions. If done wrong it's catastrophic - but done right it can give you that crucial edge on your opponents.

I think they over egg it with the double sessions. He introduced that when he first arrived at Southampton, as he obviously wanted quick results and the team was in relegation trouble.
Regardless, however, I reckon it's what our club and some of our players need - a manager that says shape up or ship out. I don't think he'll suffer fools gladly but at the same time I reckon he'll overlook a baseball cap in favour of getting the best out of a player and the team.

Because Lennon has been at this club a long time now and has gotten comfortable. Last season he was starting games without justifying it. As much as I've rated him down the years, I'm doubtful of his having a positive reaction to double, boot camp like training sessions.

I have the feeling this will be one of the main reasons for implementing double sessions.

Ade was like our hardest worker last season, that Chelsea game made me respect him even more.

.. and Ade did a self imposed suicide fitness training regime last year, when AVB was about.. yuou could see it in the first few games back..

I do worry about trying to impose boot camps when the players have just returned form a gruelling world cup
