He plays for the French National team. That doesn't give him a free pass into any first team squad but it shows his value. In any sport confidence is key. We have all seen what he "can do" and with confidence I am sure he can do with us. I for one think he can do it.

Unfortunately he is not a Gareth Bale who hits the ground running....................

We were all there then.

Gateth Bale hitting the ground running? I take it that is sarcasm?

I am trying to stay optimistic about Sissoko too. But when someone is your club record buy, is not a young player and is experienced in the premiership, you do have a right to expect them to hit the ground running.

I wish him well - he can do a job - but IMO is a rather limited player/option with very limited technical ability. But he is filling in well so far this season.

I think that he has been given bad press on this site and elsewhere. We had only seen a few glimpses of his capability last season but he now has had a preseason under his belt, understands the team system under Poch and has now been given starts in the team. His confidence is rising along with his performances. I still think the best is yet to come.can he justify the transfer fee paid we shall see but Poch believes in him and that's good enough for me. Keep in mind Llorente has struggled as well for the same reasons so let's lay off being critical and support.

Llorente has struggled???
I think he's looked mustard when he's come on and done exactly what we wanted him for. It wasn't his fault we didn't give him the ball against swansea. He's quality don't worry about him.

I'm still not sure anyone knows what position he should play.

It's the channels. With Dier sitting deep, Sissoko can run the channels, provide an outlet for the wing backs and create space centrally for Eriksen, Kane and Ali/Song. He was working the channels well in the EPL games - it wasn't central midfield play. Demebele and Wanayama simply don't do that. Their primary focus is ball retention and control. So with them, while it appears that we have control of the game, we are too central and not penetrative/"creative" enough because our creative guys don't have space. They are not very quick distributors either so our play is ponderous with them in the side. With sissoko - even though he clearly does not have the best touch - our side looks mobile and more attacking, as he always looks forward in his play. With Dier holding - and holding well - it's a much more balanced looking side.

I take it you all stopped watching Spurs midway through last season?

He improved then and is still improving now.
He's not Berbatov bringing a ball down like magic no, but he's worked hard and puts himself about. He's got some decent assists and has at times been unlucky not to score himself.

I've been more concerned about Dier this season who seems to give the ball away a lot at the moment.

His touch has nearly had 2 of his team mates get their leg broke in the last 5 games.

I'm pleased to see he took responsibility against Apoel though.....

It was his own leg that he nearly got broke after a dreadful touch in the right back position.
