Pochettino reveals how much Spurs have transformed under his management

I like Mauricio and obviously wish him and us well.
But this is mostly nonsense especially after Palace.
Chelsea 2-0 up ceded us possession as is the Mourinho way.
'Progressive pressing was entirely absent on Saturday
and the first 20 minutes was straight out of the AVB possession manual.

If the players were tired
then that's down to lack of rotation by the manager.
If he thinks we are transformed then he's either delusional
or I want some of what he's having.

This dude can't win! First he gets accused of not know his starting 11, now it could be down to his lack of rotation

Poor sod.....he was doomed before he even took the job

I won't be judging him until he has the players he wants. When the current crop play how he wants them to we look quite good - but those days are few and far between.

You can know your best starting 11 and also rotate depending on your opponent.

This didn't stop people getting on AVB's back.

I suspect he's picking players who are carrying out his instructions or 'bought' into his style of play and leaving those who haven't out which kind of hamstrings him.

As i've said elsewhere, popular opinion here on SC was that we'd finish 6th (ish) yet when our results are those of a team that'll achieve that, it isn't good enough.

Class acts.

The sooner fans stop thinking we can make top 4, the sooner they will start to accept that anything from 6th to 10th is more likely and perfectly acceptable for Poch to achieve this season.

The difference between AVB and Poch is that AVB's teams never showed any signs of change and improvement. We were slow, boring and lacked any style. AVB also hadn't shown any evidence in the Prem of his teams playing good football whereas Poch has exactly that from his time at Saints.

We have to give Poch the chance to stamp his mark on this team. We saw a glimpse of it in the Everton win and I believe we can play like that regularly in the long run.

Spurs fans are behaving like a bunch of spoilt brats that have never actually been spoilt. We have no divine right to beat any team, home or away and we need to stop assuming we are SO much better than other teams. We have to work hard for every win. This league has proven that it is now far more competitive. Palace game was our 3rd in 6 days for a team trying to adopt a high pressing style of play that not every player in the squad is ready to take on.

We need to get our heads wrapped around what this season will be, if we do then it will be far easier to enjoy.

Top 4?No.
But we do expect Top HALF.
Did it easily under dim Sherwood with the same squad.

Well yeah, thats why i said 6th to 10th.

Problem is that too many Spurs fans seem to think that we should be in the top 4 without fail even though we've done it twice in the last 10 years +

However annoying it may be to hear it, this was always going to be a transitional season. Next season will be the one for Poch. If he still can't get it right then we'll have to decide whether we want to stand by our man (for once) or change up again and go get someone like Tony Pulis......hhmm.

We need to be looking at teams like Newcastle and West Ham and have faith that Poch will get us playing how we need to play.

We will need to improve a lot on performances to date to reach 6th.

I think those that wanted dim sacked and believed Poch was better need to look at our current plight.

If there was a massive squad overhaul I'd accept its transitional.
But it's the same squad. Even a new manager shouldn't result in worse performances and results.

Chelsea did not look nervous to me, and having sewn the match up I do not imagine they were particularly bothered about how much possession we had.

I am yet to be convinced that making players train harder is the way to get more out of them over the course of a long season. If that was the key to success I think it would have been discovered before now.

Same squad but ENTIRELY different tactical approach. Different training methods, different expectations from coach.

My expectation is that Sherwood's approach is one that is far more simple than that of Poch.

there was only one way with tim and that was down.
If you look at saturday's match again you'll see we played pretty well in periods and the team are definitely improving. Obviously we were jaded and Palace were fresh and very lively. There wasn't much we could have done to change the selection though i would have liked to have seen Lennon on the team sheet.

We really didn't. Show me a decent save from their keeper.

Let's give the man time - oh, he's already had, what, 4mths! That's more than enough. Why aren't we playing like Barcelona and topping the league? Southampton are higher than us - i knew we should have got Koeman instead of Poch. Actually West Ham are third: we should go for Big Sam. New tactics - pah! Sod that for an reason, blah, blah, blah.

And repeat ad infinitum.
