Mauricio Pochettino says he is pleased that Tottenham fans seem to be warming to Moussa Sissoko. The midfielder has had plenty of critics since his big-money move to north London from Newcastle.

Personally - as limited as his skill set is in a team as specifically skilled as we are now I feel he’s been valuable within the remits of what his skill set should be used for. Definite scape goat for a lot of surrounding definciences in our play when it suits the fans who resent his purchase as he isn’t at the footballing level of his surrounding team mates - BUT if he were allowed to do what he does with praise - within very defined areas from Poch - personally I think he’d do well. I remember him at Newcastle at times being a very different type of player to what he has been for us very driving and attack focussed. For me - he’d be a lot better as a member of our squad that Poch evidently trusts without the fans of the club he plays for relentlessly on his back ruining the thing it will take for him to become the player he can be - confidence. Big up for yesterday Moussa ?

Poch must rate him, otherwise he simply wouldn’t be in the match day squad, let alone the starting lineup. Come on Moussa and
CCCOOOOOYYYYSSSS !!!!!!

he played well yesterday but still did his old trick trying to beat someone when last man on the right side- it already cost us v Barca and would have lost us at least two points were it not for Hugos acrobatics

I'm so sick of people moaning about Sissoko and scapegoating him.

Yes, he is limited in some areas of his game (e.g. finishing, playing fancy passes), but he also does a lot of good stuff that he is never given credit for as part of a team performance (physicality, stamina, forward runs beyond the line, winning back possession, transition, movement, etc.). People refuse to see that and take the easy route of spewing mindless hatred at him just to let off steam. If it wasn't him it would be someone else.

Bear in mind also that he never gets a run of games, and often in different positions, so hard to get any consistency.

If everyone is fit then he's obviously not in the first XI, but he's a very good squad player.

Hopefully he can stick a massive two fingers up to all the moaning wankers this season.

When he plays well, he will be praised.
When he doesn't, like anybody else
he will be criticised.
As are Eriksen, Lamela, Lloris and Uncle Tom Cobley.
This is not hate or scapegoating
it's normal.
He plays badly more than anybody else
and therefor gets more criticism.

Moaning wankers for calling out someone who is playing crap?
He loses the ball too much as his first touch is shite and his second touch is a tackle.
He played well Saturday and credit to him but he needs to keep doing that on a regular basis.
Hopefully that did his confidence some good because I think thats been a big part of the problem and he can start to produce.
Hope so as there is an extremly good player in there, we've all seen it, but he doesnt make as many apppearences as the shite player unfortunately.
Think we all hope he comes good.

Do you mean for Barcelona's 4th at the death?

He rarely gets any praise. Even when he does something great. Others rarely get slagged off, even when they do something shit.

That's rich, putting Lamela in there - the second most critisised player on SC and showing that he too gets some criticism.

Those two get absolutely minced whenever they make a mistake, but it's taken people months to realise that something is off with Kane.

I know Erik has become the new golden boy on here, but I remember the years of abuse.

Sissoko has been an important squad player and any success we've had since he joined is also his (33 apps last year means something).

Think he just looks awkward running with the ball. It just looks like he's about to fall over at any moment.

Perception is a weird thing.

He gets us the assist that gives us 3 points rather than 1, and still some feel the need to point out his negatives.

He is among the worst senior players at the club and only sneaks himself into the match day squad when there is a high enough number of injured or unfit players. I can't wait for the day when the squad is solid enough that we will not have to pray for him having one of his positive flukes. And no, I don't care what he cost us. His flaws are absolute, not relative.

He just got a load of praise from the fans because the last game was one of those rare occasions when he did well. Hopefully he'll get a bit of a confidence boost as a result but it's perfectly fair that he gets criticism when he deserves it - nobody earning what he does should expect anything else.

Maybe this is a turning point for him. If he can put together another couple good performances (I imagine he will play in the league cup) then good for him, it will be a long season for the squad.

That's bollocks. He does well in what he is expected to do. The fact that most here expect the impossible from him is their problem. I do sometimes curse under my breath at Sissoko, but I also do so at others. The problem with MS is that no one sees the positives (eg. the Barca game, where he came on and was a strong presence on the field with a few powering runs and interceptions), and they only focus on the negative (the Barca game again, where he apparently cost us something - although we were already beaten).
