He doesn't talk like he's planning on not being here next season that's for sure. But i think my suspicions are proved right by what he does say. He has been very disheartened by all the negativity of not winning cups. It's annoyed me too because i just support the team and trust in the management team whereas lots of fans seem to think they can criticise (based on things they assume most of the time) any old thing any time they like.
Our management team are learning game by game just like the players. They give 100%. When all of that stops its a time to be critical. It shouldnt be based on trophies or what the media spout. They're actually quite difficult to win and the media love stirring it up. Our project is what led us to where we are and where we are is good. We all have to embrace all aspects of the project and ignore sounds from outside the club. I do think we're ready to win big next season but we may need a lucky bounce. We will definitely need positive energy.

Qualifying for the Champs League has never actually meant much to us transfer-wise. It’s hard, cold cash that makes the difference. If Levy and co can’t start paying the big bucks, we’ll always struggle to win anything up against the other top sides.

Trophies these days are not won, they're bought. Who is to blame? The Ruskie started that in tandem with Maureen in England.

It hasn't, but I think Levy has always been hesitant that it may be a one off. 3 years in a row has to convince him we're capable of it every year and a little more investment can seal it.

The difference is that Abramovich owns and bankrolled Chels before FFS - Mourinho is 'only' a Manager; yes, hes worked for the richest clubs in the world, but the clubs' board or owner are the ones to stump the cash.

CL qualification makes all the difference to incoming transfers.

We lost to City home and away (lots of sides did likewise) were undefeated against Liverpool, beat Chelsea at their place for the first time since Lineker played for us, and beat United and Woolwich. We had the third best "top six" record this season, and all of this without playing a home game.

With a new stadium and almost zero net spend we have finished under Poch 5/3/2 and now possibly third worst case scenario fourth.

United spent half a billion pounds and finished where?, went out in the CL at the same stage and us and beat us in our second semi-final under Poch and we also lost a final under him whilst also beating Madrid and Dortmund (home and away) and being undefeated in what was described as the "group of death" group in the CL.

I don't know how long you have been supporting Spurs, but after forty five years of supporting them and a season ticket holder of thirty four years, we are improving in leaps and bounds, and to say "we will always struggle to win anything" is bollocks.

RB Leipzig look like missing out on European football so Timo Werner is a player who could come in. Speaks English. Good attitude as a player and would be a good signing. Will play a part for Germany at the WC so cost will be higher later in the window.

Football has always been about money. It certainly didn't start with Roman Abramovich.

How did Blackburn win the league?

How did United manage to consistently buy top players from rival clubs in the same division?

Why did Dave Mackay leave Scotland and sign for Spurs?

Why did Gazza leave Newcastle and sign for Spurs?

When I said, “struggle to win anything”, I meant trophies, not games. So calm down dear.

What I said is absolutely true about Champions League qualification. It still doesn’t mean that top players will be kicking down our door to play for us. If we haven’t got the money, they won’t come. We’ve done fine up until now (without actually winning anything for 10 years), but obviously the players that can win us a league title are not interested unless we show them the money. Some of the top players we do have are clearly unhappy about their contracts. It’s not about loyalty or commitment to most players these days, it’s about how much money they can make in their short careers. It’s probably a matter of principle too. Why shouldn’t Toby earn the highest amount possible for a central defender? We rated him as the best in the Premiership last season. He’s not going to stay with us out of the kindness of his heart is he. Get real.

It's all more complicated than lots of people are saying. Champions league qualification is very important and clearly so is the amount of wages we pay. But there are lots of other factors in whether players want to sign for us or stay with us - geography, history, manager, teammates, first team opportunities, general feelgood factor and more.

And no matter what people think, Levy can't click his fingers and change very much of that. If we doubled everyone's salaries it wouldn't change any of the other things so it wouldn't hugely affect who comes, who stays and who goes. We still wouldn't be competing with Man City on wages.

That'll be a very unpopular post.
Unfortunately its true.
Blatantly true and anyone disagreeing is in denial imo.
Be interested to know which part they disagreed with or if it was just a dislike of the post.

Following Spurs for so long you should know that the best players tend to leave if they can earn more money elsewhere, huge amounts more, and join a team that regularly wins silverware.
I dont like it either but its indisputable really.
This makes it harder to bring in top quality players and keep the quality we already have.
That in turn makes it harder for us to be successful.
Not impossible but a lot harder.
Not sure what everyone is argueing about really.
Nobody is saying we haven't moved forward (are they?).

Well Pochettino's comments certainly seem to have borne out to be true.

I had hoped his "be brave" comments before signing a new contract with us was going to signal a step up for us to a new era. A new stadium, new wages, big transfer fee era through some Lewis/Levy financial magic and might.

Still may happen, but feels quite a lot like the last few summers.

Personally I think Poch is a fool for signing a new contract before getting in the players he wanted. He should have used the Real Madrid bid and the fact that he had the club over a barrel to force Levy to sign the players he wanted.

Instead - like a yank trying to buy London Bridge - he has let Levy take him for a ride with vague "assurances" - now he has signed the deal it is abundantly clear that he will not be backed....on top of which he has missed out on a bigger and better job where he would have been.

If I were Poch I would say back me or I walk.
