The ink has barely dried on the £8.5m-a-year deal that Pochettino signed last Thursday, committing his future to Spurs until at least 2023, but some elements of the Spanish media are still claiming that Real will make an approach for him in the coming days.

Just because the clause doesn't exist doesn't mean he won't go to RM. It makes it very unlikely, but as they say, never say never, when it comes to football.

It makes no sense to go there now: he'd be the manager after Zidane, a hiding to nothing. Moreover, Benitez ran into problems with the big players because he wasn't a major player himself. If he does want to go there, he'd be better to wait till the likes of Ronaldo and Ramos have retired. Time is on his side, and he's in a very powerful position now re. Levy. The overarching thing is his own sense of honour and breaking his own word. He is in a unique situation whereby a club will be made in his image, which will never happen at RM.

The Poch won't leave; the man is a man of principle. He turned down the chance at Espanyol to go & manage Sampdoria on a lucrative contract because he wanted to continue & fight for his club. The gaffer told everyone that he would leave the Saints, if Cortese went & he did. The manager signed a contract & until the situation goes awry, whereby stagnation sets in, then its difficult to see him leaving.

Pochettino has a huge influence over the running of the club, which is something he would NEVER receive at Perez's Real Madrid. The opportunity to build a lasting legacy using the Castilla boys would be a non-starter because of the pressure to deliver continental success every season. I firmly believe no-one joins one of the big-two in La Liga to win the title, they do it to compete in the Champions League; the league is just something you do on the weekends whilst waiting for the Tuesday & Wednesday games.

Barring the freak season MCFC had, the EPL is the toughest league to win & that title would mean a whole lot more to the gaffer than winning La Liga with Los Blancos; a club where the finances are so vast & the gap so huge.

I'm super confident that as long as Spurs show they want to compete, the gaffer will stay for longer than his contract.

The other thing is that he has a house in Barcelona. Becoming manager of Franco's team in Catalunya may not be a wise move right now.

I suspect Marca is doing RMs dirty work (as usual) and publicly sounding out Poch. If Poch says no publicly they will move targets if he stays quiet, game on.

The problem with managing a team like RM is there is no long term philosophy it is about big names clearly talented players and trying to make them work together.

In some ways Zidane was perfect for this but Poch has a team first mentality and there is no way he will be the true boss of that team. Perez, Ronaldo and all the other egos will undermine him if they don't get there way. Look at Bale. Straight after the cup win, to say what he did was really poor but multiply that by 14-15 players.

Poch may see this as his chance and push for it but I suspect that he will feel honour bound to see out at least a couple of years of his new contract. Would be better than following in Zidane's footsteps. New manager comes in sees out CRs retirement then step in.

I suspect Wenger will be the new RM boss, he is available immediately for free and would be a good transition coach for 2-3 seasons.

It's a match destined to end badly IMO.
They're less patient than Chelsea and he needs 2 years to fully establish himself.
Also has a chequered history with big money signings.

Let them come for Klopp. That would make my day and then Pardew ends up at Liverpool. Perfect fit as both the manager and fans live in their own stupid bubble.

He has a perfect opportunity to do so today at his book signing in Barcelona.

What do the bookies know that we don't? Ridiculous odds for someone who has literally just signed a new long contract.

If he's 5/4 fav, whats his odds not to sign for Real ? I'll take a huge punt on that ?

I don't know, but its got to be worth a punt! It's going to be either Guti or Conte. I think Madrid fans would prefer Guti by the sounds of it. Lets all hope so!

Betting odds mean absolutely nothing. Amazes me the amount of football fans that think they do. Bookies are there to make money, not predict the future.

Well, bar the 'freak' season that Leicester managed to win...

Yeah. These "odds" always seem to me about playing to the public's idea of who is likely than actually insider knowledge. I'm not an expert on betting but I always assumed they suspend betting when actual insider knowledge comes along through fear of losing their cash as everyone piles on a bet.
