The defender has been heavily linked with an exit from the club, and his manager has confirmed that they will speak about his future next week.

This will be Poch letting Toby know where his favourite tapas bars in Barcelona are by all ITK accounts!

My source who has always said Toby and especially his family were happy at Spurs says that is no longer the case.

He cannot understand the stubbornness of the manager in not playing him. Barcelona is his preferred destination, but has been approached through back channels about replacing another Belgian at the recently crowned Premier League champions.

I guess Poch simple didn’t want to waste game time on a player that wasn’t going to be at the club the following season. The experience will be priceless for Sanchez rather than him starting next season having played half the games sitting behind Toby.
I think Alderweireld is class and I would have wanted him playing as much as possible but I understand the reasoning.

Poch: So, Toby, do you think there will be flying cars?
Toby: Ah cool! I’m so, like, gonna get me one of them.

What a lot of absolute horseshit, Poch works with Toby day in day out but all of a sudden *meets* with him for discussion? Poch is a coach not the manager.

He's been made manager since his last contract renewal.

tbf he suffered a serious injury and he was not 100% fit when he played against newport and rochdale

He means he was happy to run his contract down for another year - a situation that would cost the club £40m-£50m.
He surely understands that the club could not let that happen and also that the oil clubs he will attract are not too bothered about these sort of sums anyway.

It doesn't make much sense and when it is all done and dusted, it would be interesting to know what was really going on.

He could run it down... Then we will activate the clause for an extra year and that puts a £25M release clause. Frankly...a player in the last year of his contract always goes for slightly cheaper. So we may lose maybe £10M. Unless he is willing to wait 2 more years to become the next sol Campbellend.

At the end of the day.... It's Poch's call if he wants to fight for him to say. I understand having a formal meeting. It's a good time to clear the air... And ask him what his plans are. We only recently sercured champions league, so it might change things. I am sure if Toby wants to stay, The management team will try to give him the best possible contract they can.

The good news is there isn't much panic, we have already proven we can move on as a club without him, sure we all want himself on stay, but Toby needs to do what's best for Toby. He has been a magnificent player for us, and no matter what happens, I will still like him as a player.

Not having Toby all season is a major reason why we went out of Europe and the FA cup. He really makes the difference, so when he leaves, they had better have a decent replacement lined up.

There is no evidence of that, that is just your assumption. I could have easily assume that we would be level on points with City had Kane not got injured.

In Sanchez we have a twenty one year old eight years Toby's junior, has not missed a game through injury and played in a side that has lost just two PL games this year. He is in his first season, in a new league and Country. Spurs haven't paid forty two million pounds for a center half for him to sit on the bench. That much is so obvious.

We went out of Europe to a side that had made two of the previous three finals, and are third best side in Europe aside from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

With Foyth coming through, and Dier who can step in we won't be wasting money on another center back, so you better get used to it.

Sanchez was £42m - he has plenty of potential, but is not in the same class at the moment .
Van Dijk £75m - is he as good as Alderweireld? I'd say no, but I'm biased.

If we could only get £35m this summer, then let him stay.

This contract isn't up this summer, it's next summer, then an extension for the following summer, 2019, and it will run till the end of the 2019/20 season.

So now we might be able to get 50M, and next summer maybe 35M, but with the clause we will only get 25M. So we will lose about 10M due to the clause.

Van Dijk is younger, plus Liverpool was desperate.

My point is... It isn't as bad as it sounds. It's not as bad as the press is making it out to be.

I see what you are saying, but if we could get £50m this summer and only £25m next year, then that is £25m down the drain. That is not going to go down well.

But MP/Levy have no right to get the hump about it - as MP always says, the players were not forced to sign a contract. Likewise, he and Levy were happy enough with the clause when they signed him.
Alderweireld has been put on the naughty step, and from his point of view, he has done nothing wrong.
