What the....? Is Lamela specifically supposed to NOT go around/through former Spurs players? I think he said he didn;t care either way... whatever gets the job done and if Lamela stopped and decided "Oh, I better not go through the legs because Andros is my buddy, that is far less team-oriented, so I am not sure what Rose is on about.

He's not "Unhappy" about anything. He's just not a fan of Showboating. Being a defender i'm not surprised.

The actual quotes do not sustain the headline. Pochettino was just trying to deflect a question he wasn't interested in answering and his reply has been twisted and beefed up to make a story.

But it's not a good idea in general to encourage second-thought and hesitation in these circumstances. Football at this level is played in split-second reactions. If Lamela thinks a nutmeg is the best way to keep the ball in a challenge, he has about 0.1 seconds to decide and then do it. You don't want to make him think about who the opponent is or whether it's a tactful thing to do.

I'm happy that Lamela has the confidence to do this. It took a long time to get confidence, let him express himself. And Rose if you are playing against Andros, he is no longer your buddy once the game is over then fine.

Well they're gonna be close if Andros spends the whole game in his pocket..

Besides; it's rare that Rose is friendly with anyone on opposing teams, so cut him some slack.

To me it was fine to try that salad in the opponents half.

There is a time and place for this, and this time round it was perfectly timed.

He's not criticising Lamela for having done it, which is the way the headline appears to make it sound - he's trying to be professional and state that things like nutmegs and skill shows are not of interest to him, as his job to plan wins for us in football matches.

He also acknowledges that seeing this makes fans happy, but is irrelevant to him.

Therefore making the fans happy is also irrelevant to him.
While we are winning and in the CL, no-one will care too much, but we might not always be in such a strong position, and these little things MP now dismisses will be very important in keeping fans positive.

And I feel as sorry for Townsend as he did towards us when he helped a 10 man relegated newcastle team unnecessarily humiliate us last season. I like Townsend though, and hope it all works out.

I think he and I mean that he wishes to make the fans happy by getting us playing good football with wins and achieving success.

Guardian team news is that Lamela may have been dropped to the bench.
Eriksen Kane, Alli and Janssen all start.

Might be rubbish, or he may have a knock or something. Or maybe MP thinks this is really important.
