"Daniel must be brave" could equally mean "Daniel must trust me when I tell him that our young players can step up".

Fans make very predictable assumptions, largely driven by the clichés promoted in the press, especially online media, which have a vested interest (clicks) in high-profile, drawn-out transfers.

One of those assumptions is that "supporting the manager" means blowing great wads of money on new players, particularly established, high-profile players. It doesn't mean that. It means "trusting the manager's vision for the squad and his decisions to achieve his vision". That vision might be centred on player transfers - it certainly is if you're name is Jose Mourinho. Or it might be centred on promoting youth and fostering team spirit - subjects that Pochettino has emphasised many times in public.

When there is a good deal to be done for a young player with potential, we do it. We have Sanchez, Moura, Trippier, Alli and Eriksen to show for that. The inference follows from that evidence that, if we haven't done any deals, it is because there were no value-for-money deals for young players with potential.
