Pochettino went toe to toe with City – but that’s not why Spurs were thrashed

Against Burnley we'll find out what type of flake we are! Are we a 99 flake, standing proud, firmly plotted at the top, hardened by the cold! Or are we a left on the car seat in the sweltering sun flake, soft and gooey, looking a complete mess!! We'll see.
I've hated 99 flakes all my life, it doesn't matter what state one is in.

We should have setup like we did at RM.- 3 at the back, and Winks as a token midfielder.
Soak up the pressure, then hit it long.

Send Rose on late, when the game is won, to avoid his fits of outrage.

I thought that Rose was one of the better players out there, his play in the final third was not up to his standard prior to the injury, but he got in those position's, and he was getting up and down the pitch. He tracked back when he had too, and also got some timely challenges / blocks in, a couple were throwing him self in front of the ball. The only time he got exposed was when he two on one, with Alli or Erikson tracking back.

I said similar in the ratings thread: Rose had a reasonable game until he gave up chasing back. Could have given 2 penalties away but in practice got away with it.

But with Rose pushing up, with the formation we had, Trips had to stay back, 1 on 1 with one of the best wide forwards in europe. He had no cover and could not get forward where he could have made a positive contribution with his pinpoint crosses. This was asking for trouble.

Plus the precedence was set last year - if a player wants out, then he does not get the choice games in the rotation. MP actually broke the pattern to play his man, and Davies must be feeling pretty let down.

Just out of interest who is in your 3 at the back and wing backs given that Alderwiereld and Sanchez were unavailable and Rose is 'coming on late'
Davies should have played FB. Playing him as LCB would have meant Vertonghen playing centrally and I've never seen him do that.
So the 3rd CB should have been Foyth, He looked quite reasonable in the CL. We should have played him against Brighton in preparation.
In fact with Alderweireld out for a while, he should have had quite a few games.

Maybe Foyth is just not ready yet - sorry if that is common knowledge, but MP used to be able to get young players playing well above themselves in the good old days.

Not saying that rose was brilliant, not as bad as people talk about... Not many players can come out of that game holding there heads up saying they but in a shift... I thought tripper improved against sane, and started to get tight and not let him turn on him. Did not get forwarded as much because we would have been exposed. We lost the game because we were.out battled in the middle. They win the ball so many times in the middle of dembele and winks. Passing was slow when we got it. Should have been quick up to Kane and son. When we did that we looked like we could have caused them trouble.

But not many teams around us will get a result, it will be the.teams that put 11 men behind the ball. Just have to make sure it's only a one off and we learn from it...
