So, let's summarise some events since the end of the transfer window.

1) David Gold publicly humiliated

2) Benny trolling Spurs club and fans

3) A very miserable Aaron Lennon seen at Everton

4) Harry Redknapp resigns

:)

I am finding it a bit difficult to judge

I wouldn't say I was pleased with our lack of transfers out. I do think there was very little movement of players throughout the EPL. And I think we have some players that cost too much both in wages and initial transfer expenditure which made them hard to move. That is where we should be blaming Levy and Baldini because the fault lies in buying them not in the inability to shift them this January.

As for purchases, I am quite happy with that we didn't waste more money overpaying in a moment of desperation. We have enough of that. And the one we did buy, fills me with confidence that Mitchell will be given the backing he needs.

That we used Adebayor to throw QPR and West Ham into disarray is nice though ;)

Apart from seeing Lennon leave I am happy with the window, I knew we would not see a lot of players leave and come in. Those who expected a major turnover were dreaming.

It's brilliant we haven't rushed to buy anyone this Jan window. I reckon the squads done overall well and deservedly should see the season out it aswell gives Pochettinho a full season of assessment. Changes can be made as he sees fit end of season hopefully with players coming in early and part taking a preseason.

I'm happy enough.

There were quality winger options available this window with contracts winding down which I wish we would have pursued, so I'm disappointed we didn't as I feel our current options are far too similar and too inconsistent as is, so I felt we could have improved substantially for a very insubstantial financial outlay. Even a Pritchard recall I felt could have helped us tremendously.

As a segue from that, I think part of why we didn't is because we weren't able to move more players on. With having such a low amount of true AM's, that allows for more playing time for Paulinho and Dembele in these positions (with Dembele not having done poorly there of late). I do wish Capoue and Kaboul would also have taken their invitations to move elsewhere. As is, not only did we not get their wages off the books for the time being, I fear they'll see very little playing time for the rest of the season and their value will only decrease.

So yes, I am disappointed. I wish we had managed to move at least a couple more guys on and I do wish we would have spent the single digit fee it'd have taken to acquire a winger (or free for Pritchard) as in my eyes the improvement for financial loss ratio would have been extremely favorable, and especially since I feel we have some good opportunities this season.

Doumbia went for just £11m.

Seriously missed the boat there. He would have solved so many issues it's not even funny. His market value will now be £20m+ with the new contract.

It's same old same old for Levy. He managed to find a way to save money. Next window he will find a way to make money. Been like it for years. Never buys to strengthen when we are looking to push on.

Even CL footy doesn't make him spend, nothing will.

I hope he backs Poch in the Summer. He hasn't done yet. The boss has done a very very good job with an extremely average squad.

I agree with most of that, it was a poor window and Pochettino should be backed in the transfer market.

The season we got CL football our wages went up by about £25mill so I don't agree that Levy didn't spend, especially since it's stayed at that level ever since even without the CL money. The trouble for a lot of our fans is that whenever we finish near a CL spot we're always one £20mill signing away from guaranteed top 4. It doesn't matter that it doesn't work like that, it's just the way some fans see it and always will it seems.

I get why Levy is reluctant to spend too much, there's always good reasons not to and at the moment the wage bill seems to be the main reason. The problem is that we're not addressing it, hardly any of the big earners have been moved on and one of them(Lennon) will be back up for sale come the summer. For every player like Dawson that we manage to move on for a good fee we're going to be left with another Bentley running down their contract and doing nothing. And so it will continue until we just take a hit on those we don't want and move on. Long term our philosophy of bringing through youngsters and having a smaller senior squad will be cheaper so we're just wasting money by not fully committing to it.

Jeeez, people making polls, please put proper answers in!! ;)

The fact is, it was a thoroughly average window, with some movement in and out. Nothing spectacular, nothing disastrous. It was, as expected.

Was an okay window.

Know it is difficult in January but had hopes Ade/ Kabs/ Paul will leave and we maybe get one deal for the first team over the line.
Pressure on us now in the summer to clear the decks

Obviously would have liked to have seen a procession of world-beaters lining up to sign for us yesterday, but it's not particularly disappointing. Despite being in a final and in with a slight chance of the top four, this is still very much a transitional season, and one where Pochettino will be carefully assessing his squad before (hopefully) identifying the right areas to develop. Much rather that than us simply throwing money around in case this or that player gets injured, and leaving us with more problems than solutions.

The general lack of movement will help keep some stability in the squad, which is important if we're hoping to strengthen the character of the side. I'm actually pleased that Paulinho is still here as I still maintain there's a faint possibility that Pochettino will get some use out of him.

Ultimately the clubs we're competing with didn't strengthen, so maintaining the status quo rather than risk putting a few noses out of joint is no bad thing.

I am quite happy, we won most of our games and got to a Wembley final during the TW period.

Oh wait, have I missed the point of this??

I wanted Ade, Kaboul and Capoue off badly, but Spam getting levy'd was absolutely hilarious. So it's a wash. Therefore, Goat was the vote.

Totally fine with it.

For the first time in a very long time I feel like we're heading somewhere fantastic with the set-up we now have.

Happy to wait for the summer, as mentally prepared myself for this season being one of exploration...and for it being one of exploration it's still going pretty damn well overall tbf and we haven't really played that well for the most part with all the steps forward and back we've, inevitably, taken.

It's always been about next season for me though. This summer will be busy and exciting and will define our intention for the coming years with youth, hunger and drive being central to our make-up.

The future is brighter than ever imo.

Gonna enjoy the rest of the season knowing we're in safe hands.
100% agree.

If we finish the season with worst case:
6th place
CC Final
Europa League last 16

Combined with the fact we are slowly but surely playing better football and seem to have a plan as well as really developing a number of players such as Kane, Eriksen,Mason,Bentaleb etc etc i think it will have been a great first season for Potch i really do.

Best case we end up winning the Carling Cup and challenging for 4th and advancing fairly far into the UEFA cup(Given our current squad i would say the worst case above is more realistic).

This summer is however crucial, if we don't ship out some of the deadwood and bring in most importantly a new attacking midfielder/winger and Striker to help Kane then we will not have moved forwards at all.

Just 2-3 sensible good signings in the summer with funding from sale of players such as:
-Kaboul
-Chiriches
-Capoue
-Lennon
-Soldado
-Adebeyor

etc etc will put us in a fantastic place to have a go on all fronts next year. COYS.

YES I am!!! The last thing I wanted was anymore 'not quite good enough' signings. We have a great young nucleus full ok quality, jan, bentaleb, mason, eriksen, lamela, kane, hugo and what we need is just 2 quality signings and a few out and were set for more than top 4 next season.

Seriously, we need to concentrate on getting 2 top players for sizeable money instead of 4,5 potentials. We need to sniff around top clubs for a quality player that will likely to leave in summer due to lack of minutes, new project.

summer,

out,

capoue, ade, lennon, kaboul, paulinho, vlad=35m minimum

in

sneiderlin, + 1 top versitile forward lacazette? Done. 55m

I'm looking forward to the next one lol.

Even the next one would not see us signing star player unless we are in the CL, and honestly I am not banking on us achieving that. So I expect further house-cleaning, discarding what we don't want and perhaps signing a couple of relative unknowns to complete a squad that can play Poch's way. I would be happy enough for that to happen and see us move to challenge 4th or 3rd place seriously, and perhaps win one or two cups.

And after the roaring success of Pavlyuchenko, Arshavin and Pogrebnyak, perhaps EPL teams are waking up to the fact that tearing it up in the Russian league is no guarantee whatsoever that a player will do the same here. Pogrebnyak really looked as if he'd cut it, but looks seem to have been deceptive. Is anyone regretting that we had to 'settle' for Eriksen rather than Willian?

It's ridiculous to suggest that Pochettino, Mitchell, Baldini, etc. would have been unaware of Doumbia and his availability and price (although as an EPL club we'd probably have had to pay closer to £20m than £11m). If we didn't go for him, there's a good reason.

I don't think anyone is wowed by a superlative Russian league record, but what did pique a lot of people's interest was the two games Doumbia had against Man City in the CL. He gave them a pounding. Also Roma were in the group, so they must have liked what they saw too.

But yeah, the notion Levy failed when we don't know if Poch or the scouts saw him fitting in with us is absurd.

Yes, he's got a spectacular record against City in the CL, but then you have to take City's pisspoor CL record into account. Would he be able to turn it on week in, week out in the EPL? One has to assume that people far more qualified than anyone on here concluded not.
