Sweden's biggest daily newspaper Aftonbladet revealed in the transfer blog on their sports section that 18 year old IFK Gothenburg goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg is being scouted by clubs in Germany and England. Tottenham and Woolwich being two of the PL clubs mentioned.

Pontus is only 18 years old but has become the given starter for Gothenburg between the posts so far this season, and was also part of Sweden's U21 euro squad without playing a game.

Pontus' agent has confirmed that there is interest from England and Germany but makes it clear that Pontus will only move if there is guaranteed game time involved since as he said "Game time is crucial at his age. He won't benefit from moving abroad only to sit in the stands and not evolve". And if that cannot be guaranteed he and Pontus see no problems in staying in Sweden and playing out his contract which ends in 2020.

Here's the link to the first blogpost revealing spurs interest

Here's the interview with the agent

Both articles are in Swedish, but google translate should get the job done for whoever is interested.

As a Swede I am obviously a bit biased and would like to see Pontus in the team. But I also understand his agent's sentiments that game time has to come first at his age. In an ideal world personally I'd say sign him and loan him back to Gothenburg for two seasons. The Swedish season runs April - October so he could come back to Spurs for training in November - March.

Here's a highlight video/tribute video. It's a year old and Pontus has gotten better since.

Agent seems pretty adamant that the best place for him for now is the domestic Swedish league.
Yup. Which is smart of him since the kid is only 18. As I said in my OP if a deal would somehow (no matter how unlikely) get made I would if I was his agent also push for a automatic loan back to Sweden so he can get playing time

I've watched plenty of his games this season as a Swede and I must say he's very talented for his young age and I'm sure he'll make it to the top if he plays his cards right. Not so sure he's very keen to move abroad to a youth team when he's playing regularly now at his age. I think his next move and step up will probably be Eredivisie and Holland and not to Spurs or any other top team's youth squad.

It's tough being a young keeper as it's hard to get proper game time but if you spend too long at too low a level, progression will be slow. The swedish league is pretty poor and I honestly think moving to a bigger club with better coaches and proper facilities would be smart but I can understand his and his agents point of view.
