Positive headlines for once

So since the brilliant victory away to Chelsea all the headlines have been positive for once rather than can spurs keep their players and manager etc’ the headlines were :
‘Chelsea owner jealous of Spurs set-up’
‘Something special happening at Tottenham’
‘Poch, Alli, Kane, Lloris etc set to be offered new bumper deals’

Mabye not just beating one of the top 6 away but our all time bogey team, one we’ve not beaten away for 28 years has finally finally made people take us very seriously and recognise just what a positive direction the club is going in and that actually mabye 90% of the players and the manager etc are very happy at Spurs for long-term. Sure some may leave like Toby and Rose but all top clubs have a few players leave, as long as we don’t strengthen a prem rival again like we did with Walker and if we replace sufficiently while still improving the squad, we will be just fine :)

All fine, unless we lose to Stoke, Man City or Man United in the FA Cup and then the knives will be back out.

Wait untill we bottle the cup...;)

I pray that doesn't happen. All our eggs need to be in that basket.

Aside from Man City we're probably the most praised team all season, maybe Liverpool. Poch could slap an old lady in the face and he'd still have nice things written about him, the old lady was probably a trouble maker and he replaced her with an old lady with a better attitude.

The media bloody love us, which is why they write about us all the time.

As other's have alluded to. Only as good as our last game, means nothing if we morph back into Spursy mode against Stoke.

The media don't like meh. It is fantastic or the end of the world because that is what people want. They will not spend money on a booring story.

I think that's the fundamental difference now though, nobody expects us to do that, previously everybody would have done.

It is interesting as I find most retired players now pundits are the ones who follow the narrative of us selling our best players, never paying enough, bottling it etc.

The Mail, The Mirror and The Sun chip in with that too, but for me that is usually done for click bate. Non playing football journos at most papers tend to be quite kind to us I've always thought. We don't get anywhere near as love as say Liverpool or Chelsea have had, but I would say that there are a few neutral writers who seem to like us.

Maybe it is purely for the football that Poch plays, hell even under Redknapp I noticed a much more positive sentiment towards us. It may even be because we don't win trophies or due to the fact that we have been huge underdogs against the rest of the top 6 in the past.

That being said, there will always be stories selling our players and criticising our finance structure. Even if we win trophies , a lot of pundits have an opinion of our club instilled into their heads.

You do know we are unbeaten in the league in 2018? even if we slip up against Stoke Spursy is not something you can call the current set up

What does 'Spursy mode' even mean anymore. We haven't been that in years. We are going to lose the odd game. Is that what you mean? Even City lose the odd game. I swear, we get a pretty rough ride in the media. We win games like Chelsea, RM etc. we're brilliant. We lose the odd game to City, suddenly we're losing all our players. Every other team in the Prem don't get this kind of dissection whenever they have an off day.

Whoah...Hold on. I never penned the word 'Spursy" to describe us back in the day.

All i was trying to highlight was the fact that the media will love us for 5 minutes before normal nartatives resume.

Rightly or not, the media would have no problem ignoring all our good work this season if we lost to Stoke after beating Chelsea.

Case in point being Dennis Wise last night. Players need to win trophies, more money, Chelsea better. Blah de blah, and that was after a win.

The problem is that this almost never highlighted when Spurs is being discussed in the media. We're hugely punching above our weight and we're setting an example for the rest of the footballing world. But I guess it's more profitable for the media to report on United and Citys "new transfer sprees".

Wise is a twat. I wouldn't be bothered with what he has to say about us. He has negatives for us even though we beat his team at their own ground.
