That’s what gets my goat about everyone whinging about our depth. When we can start a side as strong as that, and the likes of Sanchez, Aurier, Wanyama, Winks, Lamela and Dele were on the bench, with established experienced performers like Davies, Sissoko and Llorente (whatever you think of them, they’ve not amassed the top level international experience they have be not being useful footballers) nowhere to be seen, you have to say that we have a strong squad with plenty of options and quality.
We just need a decent CM

Positives:

  • After only 6 games, we are 3 points better off than the equivalent matches last season despite not firing on all cylinders and playing a disproportionately high amount of the rest of the top 4 already.
  • Dele, Lamela, Moura, Lloris have all started with purpose and have been effective.
  • Kane has scored 1 in 2 despite being below par.
  • A few well worked goals, and scored in every match.
  • Injuries have seemingly cleared up,

Negatives:

  • Football has been generally slow and lacking in cohesion.
  • None of our central midfielders and none of out fullbacks are playing well, while all our centre backs have been inconsistent at best.
  • Our manager’s disposition has been somewhat negative.
  • Kane, Eriksen and Son, our three most productive players last season, have all been sluggish and at times passengers in the team.

Positives:
- Lucas has been brilliant, and adds something we've been missing
- Lamela is back to being more than a squad player, and that's something we've been missing
- Kane scored in August
- Alderweireld is back in the squad
- Trippier has come back from Russia a better player
- We've had our second best start to the season under Pochettino
- Son finally won a gold medal
- Finally beating United at Old Trafford (and spanking them at that)

Negatives:
- Hugo's off-field issues combined almost instantly followed by an injury
- Several other injuries limiting our first XI and squad depth
- Dier is the new Sissoko
- We can't defend set pieces
- The Stadium issues
- "The legends" tag has come home to roost
- The media sticking the knife in
- We've mostly been dogshit despite the results

I don't think it's helped that (as per usual) our "better than normal form" (in terms of results, not performances) has coincided with a few other teams having freak seasons so far.

The biggest negative is the lack of on field leadership - the goal conceded yesterday was amateur - your 2 -0 up the full backs need to stay at home they don't need to push on - someone on the field has to see that and take charge. Against Liverpool after the second goal the vibe was so negative and we still had most of the half to come back we need some on field leadership

Positives probably Moura - but overall a bit more dynamism is required. Its ok dominating posession but we need to move the ball more agressively and occasionally play balls into space to turn sides around a bit. Defending with the ball in front of you is relatively easy and sides for most of our games only have to do that

6 games gone, outline the positives vs negatives with the team at the moment.

Don't want to hear about the club so any stadium issues or what's going on with Poch/Levy or anything like that, just the performances or anything like that just what's happening/happened on the pitch.

What is a concern at the moment and what are you very much looking forward to?

Shit defense.
Poor midfield.
Tired Kane.
No pressing.

What I'd like to see is the defense worked on (especially on set piece situations). And the wing backs need to be re-educated and reminded about the spaces they are leaving behind. Rose was shocking in the BHA game for doing this time and again. Trips was weak and got mugged a few times too.

Lamela, Son, Lucas and Dele should be rotated to freshen things up and give us options from the bench.

Most importantly Poch absolutely must get the whole team pressing again.

Finally, I really want to see the whole team taught how to pass properly as their passing is poor. They need to be a lot more precise in their passing. It's got to also be played a lot more quickly and there's got to be a lot more forward passing. You could see when Lamela came on all that passing game I mention came into the game and going forward we were much more dangerous. Much much more of that is needed please.

We have looked the same in August/September for the las few seasons. I reckon Poch smashes them in training. Kane, Verts, Dier, Trips and Eriksen have been painful to watch....but my positives are
We know they'll get better
12 points
Toby
LAMELA
Winks ...like having three new players
0-3 at Old Trafford:LOL:
Harry breaking his August duck
Lukas scoring
Still being able to watch the maestro Dembele
The new svelte Poch...007 style

Negs
Vorms form
Weak as piss defending
Klopps annoying smile (I know its not related, but hey)
Uncertainty about the NWHL...huge disappointment

Negatives:
A lack of fitness and conditioning is both evident but understandable, and this means we either cannot or will not press aggressively.
Style of play is ponderous and slow (see above). Not sure if this is due to a lack of movement up top meaning defenders have no forward pass, loss of form or limitations of our CM players (Dier and Dembele), or a deliberate change in style as we are not going to press high and hard (see above) and want to keep possession. I think it's a combination of all three.
Kane - not sure he is just 'tired' - ankle ligament injuries can leave permanent damage and watching Kane in Feb compared to Kane now is like watching a 22 year old Alan Shearer versus a 30 year old Alan Shearer. Either way, he needed a longer break.
Fitness of Winks and Wanyama. Both missed most of last season. Both had a long summer rest. Both look like they are miles from full fitness. Hopefully both have their injuries behind them and now it's about winning their places back and getting match sharp (which is hard after so long out). But we look short in CM.

Positives:
Lamela looks like he's gone up a level - he needs to be starting games now.
Moura is like a new signing (and christ we needed one!).
Toby staying.
Rose appears to be getting his form and energy back.
Trippier's set pieces. It's been a long time since Eriksen scored one. Great to have another option.

I’ll start with the negatives:

No home stadium. Our next 6 games take place in 6 different stadiums. The effect on playing all of our games effectively away (except Barcelona at Wembley) cannot be under estimated.

The other negatives everyone have put forward I agree with.

The positives

Towards the end of the season we will have a lot more home games, hopefully in the new stadium, than the other teams. This is a massive advantage especially if our players are flagging physically.

Other people’s positives I also agree with.

Positives:

We have a good squad that know eachother, the manager and what they're capable of.

Negatives:

We will have to replace quite a few of these players for various reasons, and our recruitment setup really doesn't make me confident.

One seagull does not make a summer
but the mood has inevitably lifted
even on here.
Positive:
players returning and hopefully like Lamela on form.
Winks, Wanyama, Dele.
This will help negate the
' woe is me no new signings' schtik
12 from 6 reasonable return so far, all things considered

negative:
The off field nonsense over stadium, Poch
which distracts me if not the players.
The lack of clarity from the club is not helping.

Negative...Our insistence on playing the ball out from the back when the pass isn't really on, resulting in the opposition posing an immediate attacking threat in the final third.

The assurity seems lacking replaced by nervousness.

Negatives -

Lack of direction on the pitch from a bunch of seasoned veterans that should after the last three years know one anothers games inside out (bar Moura)

Positives -

Lamela looking like the player we thought we were getting all the way back at the begining.

Outside of all that just a little shout out -

The Spurs Ladies team is currently playing some quality football as is the U18's - the future is bright on both fronts. (opinion)

Great point....thats exactly the mistake made by Rose that lead to their goal...
