Well it's a good job the manager doesn't feel that way otherwise he would be at Real Madrid by now.
Besides who doesn't love the romance of it? Of course we all want to win things but doing so without going the way of the Chelsea and Man Citys will make it so much more meaningful. This is a rich billionaires playground now but we haven't given into it all and I think that has to be admired. I can only imagine what Bill Nic would think of the direction football has gone in now. I'm sure he would love seeing us do it without throwing money around though.

How many teams have a better starting XI than us in the prem? City obviously. Beyond City? Arguably nobody, certainly no other obvious choice.
If we can field these boys as often as we can we will be absolutely fine. We are due a bit of luck with injuries after last season.

Mate bill Nick went out and spent money to get the club where he and the then board wanted to be, greaves was bought in as the first 100,000 pound player.
As for poch how do you or me know that he might want to go Madrid especially after this farce of a window as i wouldn't blame him for wanting to win things.

He knows how we work though so if all he wanted was to win as much as possible and buy his way to success he would have gone. I'm sure he didn't expect us to spend nothing in the window but he would not have expected us to splash the cash either. We don't work that way and I for one am proud we don't go that way. That's not to say we shouldn't spend of course just not go over the top. I just dont want to see us spend silly money when we do so well producing players at much lower cost.
There's no reason we can't continue producing the Kanes and Winks' while signing the best young talent like Alli. I truly believe we can be successful the way we're going. We just need to keep feeding into the squad with the best prospects around. That's more down to the scouting network and Levy's poor approach to getting players signed. ENIC have provided the money we need, we just didn't use it this window for whatever reason.

They would, but to win I think they would need to win by 4 or win by more than a win of 5-2 ( that would put us on exact same goals for and against also I think) with a 3 goal lead.
Unlikely but could still happen .

I'm in similar agreement with you in that I want us to produce our own and be organic but also I want to offset that by being in a position to buy top quality to add the sprinkle of stardust that is needed to bag the big prizes.
So in essence I want us to be like city or Utd but still be a conveyer belt for home grown talent, with ENIC in charge we cannot be the former imo.

Best young players at the academy level - no, we are way behind Chelsea and City.
Seriously I’m all for doing things differently but that needs to be on the footballing side. If we don’t want to be a billionaires plaything then we need to groom the best young players under an amazing coach. I don’t exactly see our youth set up as being on the level of Ajax or Barca and we don’t seem willing to go out and buy the best young talent either. Before anyone mentions Dele that seems to be as anomalous as VdV was to successful last minute signings.
I can’t see a discernible strategy to compete differently. All I see is the cashflow being used to invest in capital assets so ENIC can maximise their sale price.

The positive side to winks would be to actually have him available for selection he has constantly been injured for two seasons.

As far as I recall he was bought for £99,999 so he didn't have the pressure of being the first £100,000 player. But Bill certainly spent well to get the double winning squad together.

I'm not sure how much of that can be directed at ENIC. I think they've been great for us over the years and invested a hell of a lot into our club. The issues you speak of are in regards to the recruiting of players. ENIC provides the money we need, it's up to Daniel Levy to spend it on the right players. I kind of agree on the academy, it seems we've not signed as much young talent lately as in the past. It was going so well and we still have much young talent but it seems to be drying up. For sure Chelsea and City just throw money towards getting players, but there's plenty of talent about for us to get in before them.
I just think we need to recruit a lot better. Things as far as player signings go have gotten worse since Daniel Levy took over it. I would much rather we said 'here's 75m now go get the players that fit the philosophy of Poch and our wage structure'. As long as Poch gets final say on who we bring in I think it would work. We need another Baldini in my mind because Levy is not good enough with getting transfers done. He does so many things well from a business point of view but the football side of things is not his strength. We need someone full time to overlook player recruits all the way from the academy to the first team.
