Oh man do I ever need to vent! I've had the most unbelievable evening.

This all happened on William Hill speed poker over the course of about 2 hours.

Had QQ, flop comes AQQ. Got it all in against AK. Turn and river both Aces.
Had 6,8 diamonds. Flop comes 7,9,10 diamonds. Again, all in on flop against KK- one a diamond. Along comes J and Q diamonds.
Had KK v 88.K and 8 on flop, 8 on turn.
Had Qs over Js on flop, beaten by straight flush.
Had 9s over 10s beaten by 10s over 9s on the river.
Must have had 2 dozen hands beaten by runner runner suited for a flush.
Also must have had at least as many pairs beaten by rivered trips.
Aces cracked each time they were called.
And the final insult, all in pre flop kings v kings, 2 spades on the flop, 2 more turn and river. I didn't have the K of spades.

Roll's taken an absolute hammering, and I'm trying to explain to the wife that I actually played well, but all she can see is that if I dropped (a fucking load of) money then obviously I didn't. Grrrrrrr.

there used to be a site I played on and for the life of me cant remember which one (I don't play online poker anymore) but if you lost with 4 of a kind all players at the table got given 5 grand. no idea if it still goes on

That's a tough beat. Don't think I've ever lost with 4 of a kind.

I play PKR, always done quite well on there. One thing I do hate is pocket aces on there, they lose way more than they should, doesn't matter if I get them in pre or play them on the flop, turn or river. I played last night and folded them on the flop to two others on a pretty dead board, it was a good move as one had hit trips. I think i would rather kk.

Thanks for the friendly comments guys.

Just been having a read through the thread, and I'm wondering now whether my bad luck was down to winning big the day before. I've never thought that online poker was rigged, although obviously you do sometimes wonder when other people constantly get lucky against you. But I think because of the amount of hands you see online that it just magnifies the swings and streaks in a way that you wouldn't notice live... and particularly at speed/ rush poker.

Probably...hopefully...it was just a time where I ran bad for a while, happens to everybody. Not that that helps at the time!

Has anyone read Elements Of Poker by Tommy Angelo? Doesn't matter what level of player you are you'll get something from it to improve your game. The best poker book out there by a million miles. Not what you expect, but definitely what you need, especially if you have a problem with tilt. Assuming you take notice, of course!

That's unbelievable. No, really unbelievable :shifty:.

In the course of 2 hours you had "2 dozen hands beaten by runner runner suited for a flush"? And that is even without some of your more outlandish claims. There seems to be an awful lot of straight flushes in that 2 hours. Sorry mate but either that site is totally rigged (and my wife makes a profit on it and she's not very good) or you are exaggerating a tad .

Speed poker. Clearly mentioned in the original post. If you play 6 tables at once you're seeing about 20-30 hands a minute, and when you do play a hand, it's over extremely quickly. Do the maths on those hands and then tell me it's impossible.

And you're not the only one who found it unbelievable, hence the post crying about it. You can believe it or not, but it's pretty much spot on the truth, so kindly don't try and call me out as a liar again. You can shove your outlandish claims where the sun don't shine.

Nothing wrong with my maths mate. I don't care if you are playing 20-30 hands a minute (a claim I find unlikely as that means you are taking an average of 2-3 seconds a hand and with many hands going to the river as you claim that would mean you making 4 decisions in that time in those hands).

So let's say I believe you can play that fast. That means in 2 hours at 30 hands a minute you play 3600 hands at an average of 2 seconds per hand. In that time you claim 3 hands where you were beaten by a 946-1 shot. 24 hands beaten by a 24-1 shot (runner runner flush). 24 hands beaten by a 22-1 shot (opponent hit trips on river). Bearing in mind the enormous odds of you even being in a position to get all these incredibly bad beats the chances of this happening in 3600 hands are infinitesimal. It is far more unlikely than us both randomly picking the same grain of sand in the Sahara desert. And that is without your other claims.

The odds of a straight flush in hold em are over 72,000-1 and you've seen 3 in 2 hours. That is the part of your story that is the most believable. The rest is just laughable to anyone who knows the odds. I didn't call you a liar but it's now clear that you are. You're just not a very good one.

@fatpiranha You obviously don't understand that sometimes unbelievable things happen in poker, and that evening was one of them.
Couldn't give a fuck what you think pal. You're wrong, and that's all there is to it. Don't bother replying, you're on ignore as of now.

Not a bad beat for me, but one I hit about 3 weeks ago at a cash table

A7 O/s I raised to £7 in a 1/1 table (a standard raise) 1 caller and the BB calls.

Flop J77 Rainbow
checked to me, I bet ten, two callers
Turn T hears- now two hearts on board. checked to me, I bet 15, player behind calls, initial checker reraises all in for 40. Both of us call
River is a 7. I now have quads. First to act. I shove for my remaining 198. I get snapped off.

Caller had JJ, flopped Jacks full
BB and all in hat TT and turned 10s full.
I rivered quads
All of us were a tad shocked at how it had played out- only one that made an awful decision was the snap call on the river. If he doesn't have a 7 it's clear I'm not making that play.

Yeah that river call was pretty grim. Nice play to shove though (y). I thought at first you should have made a smaller bet but if he's going to make that awful call he'd probably do it for any bet.

Saw a really weird hand at my weekly local tournament a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't in the pot but there was a raise from UTG followed by a 3-bet. The small blind then shoved and the big blind (who was the small stack) called. The UTG raiser also shoved and the 3-bettor (big stack) called. The 1st 2 players both had KK and the blinds both had JJ. The Jacks hit a straight on the turn but a 4th club came on the river and the big stack scooped the lot. I'd folded the A of clubs earlier but I had A-3 off so was never going to be in that pot.
