Leeds on Saturday night appeared resigned to losing Gus Poyet after Tottenham asked the Yorkshire club for permission to speak to their assistant manager.
Spurs have announced that Juande Ramos had been appointed head coach, and on their website said: "We have requested permission from Leeds United to speak to Gus Poyet in order to invite him to join the Club to work with Ramos alongside Alvarez."
Speaking after Saturday's victory over Millwall, United's acting assistant manager Alan Thompson said Dennis Wise had spoken to the team about Poyet leaving.
"We wish him well. He texted everyone today and said good luck. We do wish him well.
"He's a big part of what's happening here and he'll be missed but Leeds United is a big club and you have to get on with it. These things happen in football. Good luck to Gus, whatever he does.
"You look at Gus. He's got great experience, he's a great coach, so he will be missed, but I think he is replaceable and things move on."

Out of all of this drama, it's truly only the anticipation of Poyet coming back that I find encouraging. He was a respected player and got his coaching certificates right away. He speaks English, Spanish, and Italian, so no problem with a diverse squad (the froggys can speak English anyway). Ramos will probably only last a season or so and Gus will take over and lead Spurs to the promised land.
Gus Poyet is a YIDDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
