Could see us going back three with Son unavailable and success Trippier has been at right wing back over summer.

Yes but who would play at that back with Jan and Sanchez? Dier??

Most probably Dier as don’t feel he’s as effective in midfield when we play a back three.

Wanayama would then take the defensive midfield position.

Alongside who I do not know.

Ideally would have been Winks but seems doubtful he’ll be fit for start of season.

Could have gone:

Lloris

Dier Sanchez Vertonghen

Trippier Wanyama Winks Rose

Eriksen Dele

Kane

But dependent on a Winks being available or us replacing Dembele.

If Son was available we could have gone:

Lloris

Dier Sanchez Vertonghen

Trippier Eriksen Wanyama Dele Rose

Kane Son

Also re: back three I’ve put maybe swap Dier and Sanchez so we have some pacy on right behind a Trippier if needed, in same way Walker is doing for England during the World Cup.

If we somehow resolve the Alderweireld situation then he would play in back three and Dier would be on bench (???).

With so many of our first 11 still involved in the world cup I think some of the players who are there for all of pre-season will get a shot in the team. I'd be pretty interested to see how this team plays:

Lloris
Aurier--Sanchez--Foyth--Davies
Grealish--Wanyama
Lamela--Eriksen--Moura
Son/Llorente

Think it is going to be a very makeshift team for the first 2 or 3 games of the season due to World Cup involvement. Some of the players will probably target the game at Old Trafford for their first involvement but even that would be pushing it. The only players I would expect to feature in the Newcastle game are those who didn't go to the World Cup, plus Eriksen and Davinson Sanchez (plus any new signings we make).

So starting XI could be:
Vorm
Aurier
Sanchez
Foyth
Davies
Wanyama
Winks
Lucas Moura
Eriksen
Lamela
Llorente(?!)

Both Manchester clubs have a similar number of players still involved in Russia, but with their bigger squads they should cope better. Makes the scheduled start of the new season quite bizarre, but Liverpool and Arsenal should be rubbing their hands (Chelsea not so much because Hazard and Cahill are still involved and Willian might not be ready for the first game either).

Cahill has just been on vacation in Russia :hilarious:

Is Grealish really a CM in the typical way like a dembele. Not sure tbh. It’s actually really screwing up my squad planner lol. Not sure whether to put him in AM or CM section. If it’s AM we suddenly look very loaded Eriksen dele Son Lamela moura Grealish (sissoko). Although very different I do think Grealish has that same flexibility as Sissoko between AM/CM. So maybe sissoko will be off.

Assuming none of the 9 World Cup semi finalists are involved, neither Son too as preparing for Asian Games. Poch also takes time to give new signings a chance whomever they might be and will be on bench.

Eriksen to be given his Denmark free role and take responsibility as captain too.

The likes of Llorente, Janssen, Nkoudou, etc have left or close to leaving abroad so not involved.

Vorm
Aurier Sanchez Foyth Davies
Sissoko Wanyama Winks

No chance Kane doesn't start the first game of the season. Also, I think Hugo will be fine.. I know its tiring but he's a goalie not a midfielder.

Lloris
De Ligt - Sanchez - Verts
Trippier -Grealish - Eriksen - Davies
Pulisic - Kane - Dele

Vorm - Dier - Rose - Winks - Lucas - Llorente

That team would get absolutely raped through the middle.

Kane needs a long vacation imo. This season will be pretty demanding both physically and mentally, so we need go give him adequate time to prepare himself.
