Toby better start.

Why keep him if you're not going to play him.
Yes, I am sure all 9 players who came back on Monday are fit enough to start...

When everyone is fit, Toby, Jan, and Davinson (and Foyth) can battle it out to see who starts. Right now, we just need to get everyone fit.

Winks is back in training. Would surely make the bench at least.
Official site said he and Onomah have "started to reintegrate into first team training". That doesn't sound like they'll be even on the bench.

Wouldn't start Toby until he signs a new contract. I think we need to win this to create a bit of positivity so I'd be risking World Cup players.

Lloris
Trippier Sanchez Vertonghen Davies
Dier
Dele Eriksen
Lucas Kane Son

Vorm, Alderweireld, Aurier, Rose, Dembele, Amos, youth player attacker

Would go for this now. Not sure about starting the WC players unless we have to. Why not give Amos a shot who's done well pre-season.

Lloris
Aurier -- Sanchez -- Vertonghen -- Davies
Amos
Sissoko -- Eriksen
Lucas ------------------------ Son
Kane
Vorm, Trippier, KWP, Dier, Dembele, GKN, Llorente

Hopefully next week we will be more or less ready to go with only Lamela and Wanyama missing.

Central defence and central midfield are both screwed unless our world cup lads are able to start, and last 90 minutes. If they're not ready then we'll get stuffed.

Injuries to Foyth, Carter-Vickers, Winks, Wanyama and Lamela mean we're down to the barest of bare bones before has been kicked.

I wouldn't think lasting 90 mins would be thr problem. It's more about timing, ball control and generally finding the rhythm.

How toxic is this place and Twitter going to be if we lose this one? Things could get very nasty.
Agree and with our late returnees likely to be way off in terms of fitness, pace and touch it could be difficult.

Team selection is gonna be very interesting.

Playing Sissoko in this one as well gives them extra incentive. And the fans an extra boost to get behind them.

Playing more than 3 of the late returning WC players is a huge risk.

They'll be Way off the pace and with no way of changing all of them If they're struggling.

I think Kane and Dele will start - maybe Dier or Vertonghen.

Bench: Lloris, Trippier, Vertonghen/Dier

Fitness: Dembele, Alderweireld, Rose

Kane will start. He’s been training on his own while waiting for his new baby to drop after the WC. Dier and Vertonghen too as we need them desperately. The rest, who knows?

Agree, although I think we may see Aurier start, as Trips really wore himself out in the WC.

Possibly - but everyone at the club gets lifted by a big signing. Positivity and momentum can help even when you have injuries and lack of fit bodies.
Sure they do, but motivation doesn't curl up and die 'cause we didn't make those signings. Like you, I really don't like what we failed to do in the TW, and there's way more going on at the club that we aren't party to.

Regardless, Poch will want to get a result for himself, his players and the fans. The players will want to do the same.
