606 is delicious. So many Utd fans complaining about how boring Utd are to watch under Mourinho. What did they expect? Jose Mourinho has never been known for entertaining football.

"Luke: Embarrassing from Fred. I put it out there that even Djemba Djemba was a better footballer than this guy."

I know it’s at their place and we never seem to really perform there but they are still stuck with shit centre backs, that isn’t changing in a week. I’d fucking love to beat them there.

I always see this comment on here. However they've had a pretty good defensive record over the last 3 seasons.

They conceded less than us last season and the 2 seasons before that they were 2nd best defensively.

2015/16 - 35 goals conceded (joint 2nd)
2016/17- 29 goals conceded( 2nd)
2017/18 - 28 goals conceded (2nd to city)

Through out the transfer window and in the Toby thread I've seen this comment and it quite baffling when the facts reflect a different story. They've actually improved defensively under Mourinho.

Its the one reason why under ANY circumstance i did not want to strengthen a rival. Can you imagine the calming influence that Toby would have had today for United..... And there were so many on here nonplussed with selling Toby to United. :banghead: :cautious:.

I still can't believe Lukaku's goal was allowed - Pogba had complete control of Bong with his entire arm around his neck rendering him unable to move.

From what I remember wasn't it a lot of 1-0s with the odd thumping of shite like Charlton? They didn't destroy quality teams the way Man City can.

I think we should buy Pogba and Martial. They would be far better than under Jose

They have only been ‘good’ defensively because they have sucked out all the freedom and expansive football they could play and given everyone defensive instructions as their priority.

Imo this is all on Maureen.
I'm sorry but you cant publicly slate players, say you havent had enough money, say you only have 2 good players implying the rest are shit, say you need new defenders as thats where you're weak, and then come the weekend expect those players to be up for it and give 110% for you.
The media seem to have completely blanked out what happened at Chelsea. It never gets a mention. This is going the same way.
Popcorn anyone?

They were sound defensively from a goals conceded perspective for the last 4 seasons... 2 under Van Gaal and the last 2 under Mourinho. So its in their dna per se. The point is they not dross in defense as the goals conceded do not reflect that. Liverpool and Arsenal have been week defensively and have had poor CB's... Liverpool have gone some way to fix that. United until today havent had that problem. I think its down to other issues at united.

They scored 72 in 04-05 and again in 05-06. They were joint top scorers in the league in the latter with Fergies very attacking Yanited side. Robben, Drogba, Duff, Joe Cole, Lampard all starters and all attacking players with Makele doing all the defensive work.

Yup. If I remember correctly they had a 2 goals per game average that season.

Having the (arguably) best GK in the world helps

De Gea saved them so many times last season; I honestly believe he was the reason they didn't finish 5th

He was like a super-star striker, but keepers are never going to get the same plaudits as goal-scorers

  • In competitive games since the start of the 2018 World Cup, David de Gea has conceded 10 goals from the past 14 shots on target he has faced.
