Clint Dempsey is listed as a striker on the website wearing the number 2 shirt. Interesting...

Can´t really see the need for four goaltenders, does this mean that we won´t loan Cudicini or Gomes to a Championship club? A little tough on Obika who was left out, not that I expected to see him get much action. But perhaps he could have been included instead of the fourth keeper (be that Cudicini or Gomes).

It is odd. And while we can live with Carlo as a third, most of the time you'd have two senior and a kid as your 3rd. Seems to be a massive waste of wages to have four senior keepers on the books. I believe Gomes' contract expires at years' end, right? But we did sign Cudicini to an extension recently, if I am not mistaken

I wonder if Ceballos might get some opportunities or if he will be loaned out again.

Looks a bit too camp to be Clint Eastwood maybe?

Isn't it taking the piss a bit to keep giving Gomes the number 1 shirt. I mean, imagine that conversation, so Gomes, your our no.1 again.. our no.1 4th choice goalkeeper.

There's a reason his nickname is Deuce ;) The #2 thing started in college for him and he did it even at the Revs. The one place he couldn't get the number was for the USMNT due to Frankie Hejduk, so he's stuck with 8 there even though he could have gotten the number when Hejduk was done.

Obika ? No.

I could just about live with 4 GK's in a 25 man Premiership squad (although I struggle to envisage when we woiyld use the 4th) but it makes much less sense in the Europa League squad to name only 24 players (same other than excluding Gomes from the Premiership 25 man squad squad) as we did not have the necessary 4 Club Trained players in it, and hence were not allowed to name 25 players.

To me it would have made more sense to add Obika (who I think qualifies as a Club Trained Player) tp the squad as the 25th player - granted he might not play (although he did well about 3 years ago when he played in UEFA Cup just after Harry took over) but it makes more sense to include an exta forward where we are arguably short rather than pick nobody foir the 25th player squad place,

Well, that just made it even more strange. Good spot, mate, I had not seen that list.

Poor Gomes, No 1 - and dropped from the Europa League Squad... :stop:

Does that mean we can't use players like Carrol in this or do they not have to be listed...?

I'm sure there was some weird shenanigans last year with a Squad A and a Squad B for the young uns or something. Maybe I"ve made that up though.

I guess Lloris will get the cups this season. Excited to see him, he's unreal in FIFA12.

No, Carroll, Caulker, Townsend, Smith, Mason and most under 21's can play provided they are on 'List B' for Europa League matches which can be submitted (I think) up to 24 hours befoe a match - all under 21's can play in the Premier League provided they signed for the club before the end of the TW.

The under 21 players who cannot play in Europa League are those who have not spent enough time at the club, the ones who come to mind are Coulibally, Hall, Veljkovic, Gallifuccio and Ceballos. These could only play if named as part of the 25 man squad for Europa League - and they have not.
