Prepare for next season

I know that this season isn't over yet; there is still all to play for on the final day. Personally I can see us finishing fifth, but that isn't the purpose of this thread. The prupose of this thread is to prepare for next season, and in particular, the Arsenal games.

We all know whats coming, and the sooner we prepare for it, the better; "10 points, and you fucked it up" is going to be rining around White Hart Lane, and booming around the emirates, so the sooner we take ownership of it, the better.

I won't be at the games, because I'm living too far away; but whenever I hear "two nil, and you fucked it up" - even on TV - it sickens me to the pit of my stomach; this is going to gall even more, unless we take ownership of it, just like we did with the "yids" chant.

"10 points, and we fucked it up" is the only way I can think of exercising this particular demon; even leaving the Arsenal taunts aside, I think we need to take ownership of this anyway; we need to sing it so the players can hear it. I don't think it is something we should sing until it is sang at us, but once it is I think we need to take ownership of it; sing it back in a manner that says, "yep, you don't have to tell us, we know we fucked it up, but this is a new season and we're [hopefully] wiser for it" (I'm not sure if the goons will be able to read between the lines, but we can sing that last part if needs be - just kind of see if the moment calls for it).

4th would make the bitter pill that much easier to swallow, but as I say, I can see 5th on the horizon; and if not, Chelsea will win the CL - we are Tottenham Hotspur afterall.

Hold your horses. We can still finish third (and IMO I think we have a 50:50 chance of doing just that) and scupper that chant before it has even left the lips of the Goon fans, so why not wait to worry about that particular bugbear until after you know it's actually relevant?

We can't prepare for next season because this season isn't over yet. I think where we finish could effect our transfer budget.

Yeah I get what the OP is saying, but there is just too much at stake on the last day to look beyond next weekend.

Let's revisit then and i am sure man many threads like this will appear on here 1 min after the final whistle! (or in the the Fulham match thread during the match, changing with every tackle, chant, goal, referee decision).

My personal opinion is we will scrape 4th

I still don't really understand the negativity. I personally still think there's more chance of us beating Fulham and West Brom getting something against Arsenal than there is Fulham getting something against us and Newcastle beating Everton.

Everton have beaten us, City and Chelsea at home since January, and quite frankly they could score at any time against any team with Pienaar and Jelavic.

Not looking ahead to next season until Sunday and possibly CL final is out of the way. Still everything to play for over the next week. We could have finished 3rd by this time next week and everything will be a darn side rosier.

It could, but it won't.

If we're lucky, we'll get 4th.

Well aren't you the ray of sunshine around here! Luck won't come into it next week, if we do our job and west brom do theirs, we'll finish 3rd, it's a very plausible scenario.

I'd have said WILL effect our transfer budget but other than that, me and my testes agree with the Mullster (y)

EDIT: Actually, no, scratch that, I fully agree with the above. What I meant was our targets (who we might sign) rather than the budget.

One I'm not going to hold out hope for. I'll expect the worst, and be pleasantly surprised if the best or second best materialises; and be less disappointed when the worst materialises.

Either way, I think we should prepare ourselves for the more plausible scenario that we finish behind Arsenal; we don't have to go out an buy provisions, just give a little thought to what is coming our way and decide what to do.

How about:
You only had to beat the Baggies,
You only had to win that game,
Now Chelsea have beat Bayern,
And the Europa is so lame :eek::eek:

Well I'll be at the Lane on Sunday singing in support of the team. I couldn't give a shit about opposition fans and their chants, and I certainly won't be singing '10 points and we fucked it up'.

Yes it's depressing how we blew such a huge lead but this has still been an incredible season. It's a huge shame about how the season is finishing however let's not forget the fantastic performances and football we all witnessed that got us in that position in the first place. Whatever happens I think the players deserve to be applauded and supported.

Or, look at it this way; we beat Fulham, Woy wallies his twoops to get one last wesult for West Bwom, we finish third. We can then taunt the filth that despite going on an absolutely horrid run for two months we still finished above them.

I sincerely hope If there is only one thing us as fans have learnt this season is NEVER to utter that 'Mind The Gap' bollocks ever again!

We're going to beat Fulham and the Goons wont beat the Baggies. Simples. I refuse to believe there will be any other outcome. COYS!
