Showboating for Brentford doesn't mean you'll cut it against the likes of Man City, Arsenal or Man Utd, etc. A shame but if Pochs happy to let him move on then that's fine by me.

We pay them a damn good wage. Players don't hesitate to shaft the club when it suits them so there is no need to treat them with kid gloves. Letting contracts run down is not good business unless there really are no takers.
Paying someone well doesn't give an employer a license to mistreat an employee.

But anyone who isn't ok with a player shafting a club, shouldn't be ok with a club shafting a player, it's hypocritical.

Was Pritchard mistreated then? Players shaft clubs and clubs shift players on when they're no longer of use. It's just the way it works.

He was mistreated if we led him to believe that he has a future with us when we just wanted to sell him.

Players like Modric, Bale and Berbs were given stick when they left, so large numbers of our fan base expect loyalty.

Probably the ridiculous loan to W.Brom that finished him off.
You can't prove yourself if you don't play.
Due diligence was not done on that one.

Hard to persuade and manager to give a young player his first chance when your in the middle of a title race so i disagree with you there.

He lost his chance when he got injured at the start of the season imo. Unlucky, but the club recognised he deserved a new start and accepted a low offer for him i think. He can't complain.

I am not saying we should give assets away for free, just that we be honest and don't mislead players.
I'd be surprised if he was told anything other than something along the lines of...

"you're a fantastic prospect, did really well at Brentford, keep improving and working hard and you will get a chance in the first team"

That's what I'd say to a young player who looked promising

I wouldn't promise them anything however, but give them a goal to work towards that provides motivation.

We have to assume that he either
- wasn't felt to have progressed
- was injury prone
- no longer fit into how Pochettino wants to play
- or is a "bad egg" (seems unlikely)

which is why he's no longer at Spurs. I doubt he was mistreated or misled.

Obviously that may not have been what happened but in fact we probably will never know. Players who have to leave clubs may often have gripes about their treatment there, it's natural.

Well he couldn't progress because he was injured, if he is a fantastic prospect then I would put him in the squad when he is injury free, I don't think he was injury prone either. Something doesn't add up, I think there was some beef between them behind the scenes.

It's interesting. He's been hyped for so long I worry we might regret selling him. But then I wonder, how many players that we have let go have gone on to make us regret it? I obviously don't mean Berbatov, Carrick, Modric, Bale (or Sherringham for that matter) etc. But young up and comers who we ended up moving on like Bostock, Tarabt, Caulker, and many many more of that ilk. Even more senior players, like Hutton or Huddlestone or Mido or Ghaly or....or....or.....or.

The potential list is endless, but how many would we wish we hadn't sold?

Perhaps a Kevin Prince Boateng - athough he faded again quickly. Similarly we bought Kaboul back having sold him.....then regretted it.

But there are no Pogba's; Matic's; Lukaku's in our closet that I can think of.

He sounded frustrated and wanted to play first team football. Don't think he said anything wrong. Better for a player to play 35 games for a smaller club than 5 per season for a bigger club.

Good luck to him and I hope we give him a great reception if he ever plays against us.
