Pubs near WHL showing the game...

Hi Guys,

Unexpectedly I have had to come down to London this morning for a meeting so I thought whilst I was down here I'd try and get to the pompey game. It doesn't look like I'm going to be able to get a ticket though :-(

Anyway I thought it might be good to watch the game with a load of fellow yids in a pub near the ground. I was hoping that somebody might be able to recommend a decent pub that would be showing the game that should be pretty busy with our fans?

Any recomendations would be much appreciated!

The Brickies is a good shout, went there for the CC Final and the atmosphere was pretty good!

Well I did end up getting a ticket outside the ground, it was in the west stand though. First ever time I'd been in the west stand and to be honest the atmosphere was very dull.

What got on my nerves more than anything was the constant criticism of just about every player. All the people around me seemed too shy to join in with any singing but were more than happy to shout out obscenities at the top of their voices to the players!!??!! There were also a few pompey fans in there who stood up cheered and chanted when they scored. People went mad but the stewards just shrugged their shoulders??

I was just very surprised at the different attitude I experienced in the stand to what I've experienced in every other area of the stadium.

On a side note I felt the team, for the first 70mins, lacked energy. IMO they looked sluggish and couldn't lift the tempo of the game. The movement by all the strikers was extremely poor as well, i think i only saw Daren Bent run into a channel twice and both times he got the ball and a good opportunity. On a plus note though Bentley really put the effort in when he came on and really seemed to inspire the team.

All in all I was disappointed for the most part by the performance and was extremely disappointed by the attitude of the fans in the around me, surely if u have the balls to swear at the top of your voice you can join in with a chorus of COYS!?!
