Skysports.com understands Tottenham Hotspur are set to sign Inter Milan winger Ricardo Quaresma on loan.

Quaresma has endured a difficult time at Inter since joining the Serie A champions last summer in a big-money deal from Porto.

He has struggled to win over the Inter fans and was jeered by home supporters when appearing as a substitute in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Torino.

The Portugal international has also been left out of Inter coach Jose Mourinho's squad for the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions League.

With the transfer deadline approaching, it is now understood that Quaresma will spend the rest of the season at White Hart Lane.

Sky Sports News revealed on Sunday night that Spurs are hoping to bring in two loan players before the window shuts at 5pm on Monday.

A deal for Quaresma could also fuel speculation regarding the future of Aaron Lennon amid reports Liverpool want the winger included in any deal which would see Robbie Keane rejoin Spurs.

wow! This come be a good solution to the left wing!
  2. mawspurs
Can he hit the ground running in the PL? That is the only worrying factor. But, this late in the transfer window, with PL targets unlikely to be easily purchased he is a good option.

    complete B******s!!

This guy is another Bentley, all tricks and flicks and little end product! Playing Gio on the left would be more effective than this guy.

Not the LW/LMF solution we need, thank God it's only a loan if it happens.

He has been average to say the least after his move from porto. Still, a not upto scratch Quaresma is better than nothing, though I would be inclined to give GDS a shout on the left.

Poor Arshavin!! He's flown the whole way here to be told that the arse cannot afford him!! SSN reporting he's on his way back to an airport to fly back to Russia...but...airports closed meaning he cant get out.

Wouldnt it be hilarious if we managed to get hold of him before he goes home!

Then he scores the winner against the scum this weekend!!!:grin:

    Get him in! forget keanescum!

Given that Liverpool apparantly will only accept 15m for Keane, let us spend that money on Arshavin and stop him going back to Russia.

Having said all that, I'd actually quite like Quaresma, he is pacey, strong, skillful and has end product. Equally good on either flank as well.

However, not if it means Lennon is off. That would be unacceptable.

Please god tell me he is left footed and not right???!!! I will truely despair if he is a right footed winger.

Also with regards to Arshavin, is it not likely that he's agreed personal terms and is now heading home before travelling back. Sure Arse will agree a deal before the window shuts and he will be playing against us come Sunday.

I would also like to see Gio get a chance; but it doesn't seem likely that 'arry will give it to him. Quaresma, although in the midst of a poor season, would be a great loan signing. He was good enough for Inter to buy in the summer so he can't be all bad. I don't know why it has gone wrong for him but it would be interesting to see whether 'arry could get him back to his best. But is it true...7 hours and we'll find out, I suppose.

quaresmo is a right footed left winger same as lee was a right footed left back.

so was Steed and he did pretty well for us last year.

we have to face the facts that we are in a relegation fight. forget about signing PERFECT players, we just need players who can help us survive. i think Quaresma would be a great signing for the left wing, even tho he's right-footed. despite his failure in Inter, he is REALLY good.

And as for forgetting robbie......according to SNN with have increased our bid,so i'm guessing defoe out for alot longer than 3-4 weeks :(

Good call. A punt on an under-achiever. We can't lose. Way to go for bargains.

Take calculated risks that other people won't.
  16. chiveliyid
that will be a no then! I hate that we continually fail to play left footed players on the left. It is shocking and not the answer.

Play Gio ffs. Riera with Liverpool is a classic example. By no means a brilliant player but makes them look far better as gives width to a team. For too long now we have failed to buy/play a left footed winger.
  17. jackhealy
Dos Santos is left footed. If Quaresmq will come on loan, take him. Don't spend 15 million on Robbie Keane: he's not really worth it, with or without the demand for Lennon as part of the deal.
  18. mawspurs
SSN are saying inter will take either Jenas or Bentley in an exchange loan deal for Quaresma.
  19. northampton_yid
Bentley please. Jenas still has a part to play. I cant see a future for Bentley.
