Let's concentrate on beating Liverpool first. That should create a gap between us and the chasing pack. Then we plot our way up from the 3rd position. I'm sure Poch will lead us to a top 3 finish, and with a bit of luck with injuries (we've been hard hit with long injuries to key players) to our major foes, we might be able to do better this year.

long long way to go lets calm down..

Exactly. People were handing Man City the title at this point last season and look what happened there. They may well go on to win it, but we're 8 games in and they're 2 points clear at the top. Anyone handing them the title already is being foolish.

Tbf we didn't look great.
It’s an old cliche. But because our defence is so solid ,us having a bad day generally results in a 1-0 or at least a draw.Liverpool would be conceding 3.The City bubble will burst, they will have days like yesterday where they hit the post twice and keeper has a worldly. And the 2 goals they conceded will be much more significant.7-2 or 1-0 it’s still only 3 pts.City could score 150 goals this season, but it will only be worth 1 extra point in the end.

De Bruyne is their heartbeat, similar with Eriksen for us.

An injury to KDB would certainly reduce their potency, despite the fact they have a plethora of attacking options, he's different gravy.

So, point being, things can change quickly and although they look scary good at the moment things can change, long way to go.

It would be nice to get a result at Liverpool but they always seem to be sharper and more up for it than we are which usually means we lose.

We play Liverpool at Wembley this Sunday, not Anfield.

Although I'm not sure it makes much difference lol

At least they'll come at us. And without Mane that might not be a bad thing.
Chelsea, Burnley, Swansea and Bournemouth all sat deep and had little positivity going forward. Start with a point, anything else is a bonus was the tactic.
Liverpool can't defend for shit so if they have a go we'll get more clear chances than those 4 games combined.
No one thought we'd spank Dortmund.

100 per cent agree and have said as much somewhere. I just meant we don't have the same 'home' advantage as we did at WHL.

I'm actually looking forward to this game. Fed up with seeing teams sitting deep with two banks of four and us labouring in possession.

Liverpool will look to counter but they'll press high at times as well and they'll commit men forward.

Really interesting game now, and if we could win it, well that would give us a huge lift for the other big games at Wembley.

Mane is a huge miss for them, so I'll be disappointed If we can't turn them over, like you say they're weak defensively.

We should really look to sit deep, invite them on to us and smash them on the counter, though I would expect klopp to anticipate that.

Could be a fascinating tactical battle this one.

As much as I hate the oil money and the market of today, City as fun to watch. Their counterattack with KDB and Silva is breathtaking and they have the speed in a Sane, Sterling, Jesus to just surgically open up teams.

It will be a real test for our defense and midfield to handle that and I can see us parking it a bit and trying to play the counter like we did versus Dortmund

They looked good against Stoke and other shite. Liverpool had 10 men and collapsed. Chelsea are over rated (lost to Burnley and fucking Palace ffs)
Let's see how City have done when they've played everyone.

Indeed it's one of those games where you need to out muscle them in order to have any chance to dominate. We have been in similar games before where we have been technically outclassed and still managed to over power our opponents. In fact I think we are pretty much the only team able to do that and still have a sound technical game as well. Not crucial but I'd like to think both Dembele and Wanyama would be fit and available for our games against City, as they have both shown in the past they are very capable of dealing with teams like that.

I agree. I can't see Liverpool and more so Klopp being able to play a shut up shop mentality against us, and even if they do they are so weak on set plays I'd still fancy us to open them up.

The funny thing is our first 11 is probably the most expensive... Kane, Eriksen and Alli alone are worth more than 403 mill.

It's the spaces between the centrebacks and behind their fullbacks that we need to attack. Similar to how we scored the goals/attacked against Dortmund.

I just hope Poch doesn't set up again (the away game last season) and play straight into their hands. The Dortmund game was such a good example of how we could play against Liverpool, although obviously Liverpool aren't as good in attack as Dortmund.
