If we win tomorrow, I reckon we will finish second.

It will be very close either way between us Man Utd and Liverpool.

If we beat Swansea next week it'll mean our away game vs Brighton will be moved towards end of season, hopefully they're safe and on holiday then.
It's all about our next 3 away games, Bournemouth need points still, Chelsea goes without saying and Stoke are fighting for their lives. They're the hardest games, 3 of the 4 home games we should be winning and it's possible City will already have won the league and more importantly will have played a huge CL game 3 days before.

Would love to go above those over achievers

It why I’ve been saying all week a Man U win is the best outcome. Win tomorrow and we are ahead of Liverpool. Then it’s only Man U to chase down and is in our hands.

I bet the team would be happy with that result.

Right, now let's banish the blues from midweek by getting stuck into this game, we have the incentive of going third and it will build confidence for the quarter final tie, and at the same time it will shut up all the media and opposing fans from the typical clubs that love to hate us and love to say we're bottle jobs. COYS !!!!

Bad news Chelsea winning today.

Expected win, nothing lost imo.

The good news is that Liverpool have been dragged into the top 4 race. They still have to go to Everton, Palace and Chelsea. All grounds where they could easily drop points.

A huge game for us tomorrow, not winning would be a disaster and would leave us hugely vulnerable going into Stamford Bridge.

not necessarily. it was always a home banker so anything but a chav win would have been a huge and unexpected bonus. Keeping them in the hunt, especially if we're above liverpool, just increases the focus on the chav-liverpool game last but one. It has to remain a fixture with something on it so we can benefit from all 3 outcomes rather than just be a game they both play out however they feel like.

Well someone else said the season isn't over yet. But sometimes I guess it depends on how you determine what makes a team better. Is it always as black and white to say a team who has more points than another automatically makes them better? I personally don't think so. Sometimes it can depends on circumstances like injuries, another team not having european competition obligations, or playing home games at a stadium that isn't yours like with us for instance, hence why I think it does have relevance to the point I'm making. Also for example, I think Crystal Palace are better than a few of the teams that are above them in the table but they started the season with a manager who couldn't get anything out of them, not even scoring a goal in 7 games or something stupid I think and have played a short while without the one player that really gets them ticking, not to mention the host of other injuries they've got.

My initial post did come across as overly-arrogant almost in disregarding two teams like Chelsea and United a bit but I still stick with the point I was trying to make. Chelsea can certainly be a very strong and rugged team, plus have a real world class talent in Hazard but there is still something wrong with them at the moment. There's no way we would lose 4-1 away to Watford or 3-0 at home to Bournemouth. I'm just using that as an indication of how something is not right with them currently. Not to mention the ridiculous no tackling allowed show they had at City.
I guess the whole point of this in the first place was about the FA cup and us being knocked out by one of them would make you disappointed because you feel they are both poorer teams than us. We could debate for ever about it being true or not. I guess my opinion is, if we got knocked out by either of those teams, yes I would be disappointed, but not because I think they are poor teams. Obviously if they knock us out they would be better than us on the day, and that’s just football I guess.

I know many would disagree but I wouldn’t mind Chelsea taking Liverpool’s 4th place spot in the PL.

Chelsea has got tons of money so it wouldn’t affect their spending next summer, even without CL.

Pool doesn’t have the resources of Chelsea and some of their (pool) stars may want away without CL next season.

It would (hopefully) reduce the bragging from the bindippers (there are more of them around than there are Chelsea fans).

I was (probably wrongly) under the impression that FFP had bitten at Chelsea which is why they were being linked to every cheap as chips striker in the EPL last January (Crouch etc etc), it'll be interesting to see how much they spend this summer. Netto of course :D

Even if Roman tightens the purse strings a bit, they'd still get good money for the departures of Hazard (probable) and Willian (possible) in the summer. Plus they'd also collect a few quid here and there from the sales of some of their million or so loanees.

The flip side is, if that match does not matter, it's because one of them is already out of it...

Yup agree. I was saying it in reference to one or both already being cemented in the top 4 but you’re right, it’s possible that the opposite will also be true.

First thing, lets win today.... its not going to be easy
We need 3 pts before going to SB next up in the league.

I reckon we can get 3rd, 2nd is gone IMO as Utd have a relatively straight forward finish now, yes they have Arse/City but we have City/Chelsea and they have a gap so I think 2nd they have but 3rd we can take but first we must win today
