So, now the ' nightmare scenario' would see us finish 4th, Arsenal win EL and Liverpool(rather than Chelsea) win CL having fallen out of the top 4. So, we def want City to win that tie( and of course want Arsenal to lose anyway)

You realise Liverpool would have to beat city over 2 legs. Then beat 2 of most likely Bayern Real or Barcelona it won’t happen. I actually thought if they got an easy draw and say Bayern drew Madrid they could fluke their way to a final but that won’t happen now. To win it now they’d have to beat 3 massive teams. And let’s be honest theyve beaten nobody all season in European terms. Even what’s regarded as their best win 4-3 City was a bit of a freak game. Tbh we’ve probably had 7 or 8 fantastic performances against top top teams. Liverpool are massively overrated.

Also by my ratings Liverpool have had 2 decent results all season and even those are debatable.

Arsenal 4-0 not sure if you’d even count that as a top result
City 4-3 bit of a freak game that they nearly blew.

We’ve had Real H+A, Dortmund H+A, juve A,Liverpool H,United H, Arsenal H only 1-0 but should have been 7. That’s 8 stand out performances for us compared their 2 bit iffy ones.

What’s annoying for me is the same pattern every season. Drop off in Oct/nov great form new year. Hopefully early transfer window closure will help. But really need to try and be consistent from the get go. However I feel World Cup and stadium move could mean another patchy first half of season. Think I calculated we could have 13-15 in World Cup. Probably most of any squad with city.

To be honest I think this has been a really good season for us. To have played 30 away PL games and be above last seasons champions, ‘the greatest team the world has ever seen’, Arsenal and only 4 points behind United having spent a fraction of the money the other clubs have spent is really remarkable.

Okay City are way ahead but, they are way ahead of everybody. A strong last 8 games and 2nd could be ours. Throw in an FA cup win and happy days.

(I think Leicester will beat Chelsea this weekend)

Yet they're still only 1 point behind us on the same goal difference.

Liverpool are not over rated. They are a very good team that is why we are battling them for a place in the champions league. We laugh at fans on rawk for being deluded. Don't fall into that trap.

Leicester were shit hot for a while too. Let's see if Liverpool can replicate it next season.

I do realise that and I also remember when Chelsea somehow fluked winning the CL after being totally outplayed in the SF and Final. I don't expect it to happen but I was just bringing the worst case scenario up to date.

So what are you rating them on. A freaky 4-3 win over city ? Or beating Maribor 7-0. Apart from that 4-3 they’ve not beaten another quality team all season. We smashed them 4-1 . We had 70% of the ball at their place and were hugely unlucky not to win. I’ll stick by they are hugely overrated. Not saying they are decent and dangerous on their day. But nowhere near where some people are rating them.

They are 1 point behind us with an easier run in than us. There isn't much difference between us. If you don't think they are a good side you can't think we are.

Although @coys200 is being very forthright in his views I am inclined to at least slightly agree with him. What Liverpool have been consistent in achieving this season is eye-catching results - sometimes in big games at Anfield, sometimes in sweeping aside the fodder - and these build hype. However, as evidenced by the fact that we have now overtaken them, their actual consistency doesn't quite support the hype those headline results generate. I firmly believe that had we not had the Wembley adjustment period we'd be closer to 10 points ahead of them.

But... but... they scored lots of goals against some Europa League teams!

The is the sort of post about us that we quote from RAWK and laugh at.

Liverpool are going to finish second. They are a ridiculously good team and you’re in denial if you cannot see that. Sorry.

Willing to bet you some money to go to SC that they don’t finish 2nd?

Wouldn't be so sure of them finishing 2nd they have a bit of a fixture jam around their CL ties with Man City, think they have Everton sawixhed between those ties or something.

Overrated is such an utterly meaningless word. I see it used all the bloody time and it is at best a disguised attempt to apply objectivity to something wholly subjective, such as a film, a novel, a game, a type of pizza, whatever. People like (or "rate") or dislike things precisely as much as they like or dislike them. No more, no less. If I say "That Titanic film is totally overrated", then I am saying that many people either like it less than they are purporting to, or should like it less than they do. Either way it's ridiculous.

Your use of the word is goes even further than that, because in the case of football teams (unlike a film) we actually have objective criteria with which to evaluate them: the most obvious being points scored. By those criteria Liverpool are a team basically as good as we are, this season, and no amount of opinion can change the facts.
