I thought we still need 4 points to guarantee (barring a major GD swing) CL.

Yup, you're right, my bad. But in my defence I've got a shite cold and a very sore back, so I'm not firing on all cylinders!

I don't think anyone is apologising for the team, some of us are not pessimistic and are being positive about what we are going to achieve

No denying that some of our performances have been shit, but I'm positive that it will end well
Don't get me wrong I want things to end well. Put that in bold just in case I've been too negative and make it clear. But the way they're stumbling across the line, looking like they won't even make it there atm, is woeful. Going from 10 points clear to 2 is criminal, relegation form. And seeing the way we crumbled 2 years ago with more or less the same team, a stronger one if anything, doesn't fill me with confidence. This club is like a self-fulfilling prophecy and a lot of the time its for the worst possible outcome

Well if we win on Wednesday a draw would do on the last day, or vice versa. Gonna be in for a fucking nervy week!

If we fail to get top 4, I'm not sure what will be worse. The disappointment of missing out on CL next season, or the fucking whining that will be going on all summer on here.

But I still think we'll get top 4. Glass half full I guess.
You don't have to look you know.

You posted "Only if we win our last two games and they don't get a result at Brighton".
Win our last two games and their result against Brighton is immaterial.
Oh I see. Point is that we should approach Brighton as if it's three points to the dippers. It's almost certain they'll win it and that requires two wins from us. We should not go into the Newcastle game expecting a favour from Brighton. We have to win both games regardless IMO.

Why?

All they need is one point against Brighton and they're at worst in on GD. We've got two games to play, with 4 points to get.

Not so. If Chelsea win their last two, Liverpool need to beat Brighton to stay ahead of them.

The best thing we can do now is seriously get behind the team on Wednesday. Let's make the last two games as close to the atmosphere we know we can create. Get behind the boys from the off and if they let us down again. They've got nobody to blame but themselves.

I genuinely think we'll do it, but the manner in which we are finishing has still really pissed me off.

They need a kick up the arse this week from high up because if we go into the new stadium in the EL from the position we were in, yet still pay the highest tickets in the country. They're gonna be some seriously pissed off fans. Especially when half the squad is sold in the summer

To get third yes I agree totally.
If Liverpool don't beat Brighton their collapse is far worse than ours, they were above us when we had a ten point lead over chelsea which means that their lead must have been even bigger.

This drop in form really could not have come at a worse moment. Missing out on the Champions League would be an unmitigated disaster.

I think some people need to calm down. There were pre-season threads about what we were expecting this season with the Wembley transition. Many, myself included, were expecting top six at best. It will be disappointing to miss out on top four yes, but only because of the position we were in. If we played worse all season and were never in the top four to begin with, I bet there wouldn't be so many people thinking it will be catastrophic for the future of the club. I don't see it being a disaster or a catastrophe for the club. We're not getting relegated.

Are you kidding?! From the position we were in it would be a monumental clusterfuck and indicate that we have flawed characters in the team. It’s not about Wembley. It’s about character.

I’m dreading Wednesday now.
