League is gone, has been for a while. Probably when we sold Walker to city to help them complete their starting line-up. We will be battling with Liverpool and arse for 4th.

Apart from City forums no one should even have a title thread. City will finish miles ahead of everyone else.

I am still confident about Top 4 though it takes a dent when we play like that. Cant see finishing above third though. Think City, United and Chelsea are better than us. Most chance we have got is pipping Chelsea to third.
Would be happy with that.

Can we take the FA Cup seriously now plzzzzz

Pretty sure we did last year to be fair.

The attitude the players had against West Ham in the Carabao Cup is even more annoying now. Barely in November and looks like the league challenge is done. Throwing any cup isn’t acceptable for us. We need a trophy

I get you but I really struggle with seeing United as being better. Man for man they simply are not. Chelsea have Hazard which makes the difference between the two sides probably, that and their options from the bench.
Either way, City will walk it. Just too many resources, nobody can compete with their wealth.

It’s going to be the most boring title race for quite some time. Hopefully City’s owners fuck off sharpish or at least reduce their spending. A chimp could win the title with their resources

Yeah any little hope of hanging on City's coat tails went yesterday.

Still going to be difficult finishing top 4, but its imperative we do moving into the new stadium and all, so we have to bounce back strongly now and go on a big run.

In truth we've looked poor in the league ever since Kane got injured against Liverpool. Still can't believe Poch kept him on then when the game was done and he looked wrecked.

Anyway, they need a bit of a rocket now before this turns into a real slump.

People have changed their tune after yesterday's result but if any of you had watched a bit of city and a bit of us you would have seen that there was a considerable gulf and that the title race was never on.

Their attack and midfield are different class and whilst our defence is good, if we're not scoring enough we're not winning. There's too much luck involved in football to rely on winning by narrow margins. The two offside goals we conceded yesterday are proof of that.

I know this team needs a trophy but if we go into our new stadium with no Champions League football it will be a disaster.
This team is good enough to win a cup and top 4 but Top 4 should be main priority. Sort out the league form.

When it comes to needing to get a result in a big game that matters, I'd back united over us any day of the week sadly. They know how to win ugly, they do it most weeks and it's why they won 2 trophies last season.

I think our team is full of overhyped players ... they became 2nd and 3rd last season not because they were better but because clubs like utd/arsenal/city were not into their full rhythm... United got one player who has got same loser mentality like spurs and that is luke shaw ... and not only utd wants to ship that player to spurs but also he is not playing for utd anymore.. If we swap rose with luke shaw that will solidify our position as a loser club no matter what the transfer fee is ...

God it pains me how right you are. It really does.

They are the quintessence of “the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.”

Correct it was never on and you can't really blame walker for leaving as he spent years at spurs winning fuck all and goes to city and wins a title first time out.
This is maybe the situation the club face come summer when 1/2 others cast an envious eye over to clubs where they feel they can achieve that bit more.

I think this is a fair point.
Re winning a cup, the FA Cup is still very hard to win for us because of our inability to win away against the top sides. If we are drawn away to city or utd we're pretty much out. Even when we are drawn at home, we've struggled in recent years- Leicester, Palace, Wycombe...
Strangely we probably have more chance of winning the CL with its two leg knockouts taking some of the pressure off, teams not knowing us as well, and the chances of our top sides getting knocked out before they meet us being higher.

Stones out for 6 weeks. We win our next 5 before play them which looking at fixtures is immensely possible. They lose to United, then a win over them makes it 5 pts. Long way to go yet. Can all change very quickly.

I admire your optimism and hope you are right. Mathematically you are of course correct, but given that we have now lost three games already we will need to go unbeaten over the rest of the season to even have a slim hope of winning the title and I doubt we can do that.

To slightly come away from the point of we are unable to win away at the top six which is without question true, I think there is another issue that is bugging me and that is when teams either bank up or press against us we struggle.
So far the season Chelsea, Burnley, Swansea and even palace who should have won we have looked flat and toothless just passing it around with no or little end product in sight.
Even yesterday when we had the ball I never felt we was going to score or create anything of note even if we were still playing this morning.
I suppose what I'm saying is that we are quite predictable and easy to stifle and with that comes the predictable result of we don't have much idea and so results away like yesterday and draws at home to average sides will continue until a solution or more personnel is found.
