There needs to be a market for the availablity of our players for them to leave, apart Alderweireld where every club would take in a heartbeat I'm not so sure about Dier or Rose anymore, Utd seemed to have closed the door on both with Shaw now playing well and Matic playing in the role that Mourinho had earmarked for Dier.

Plus our players are fucking expensive. There’s probably only 5/6 clubs in world football that could afford the fees we’d charge and I suspect we would be very against to sell to 3 of them (Chelsea, Man U and R Madrid).

True...BUT have you seen our next 3 games? We could be all but out the top4 race after them. It’s now a prettt big ask. Defiantly NOT over BUT we need to pick up some big big wins against top6 teams in the run in now. 2/3 wins in next 3 games is probably needed.

last season we won 12 out of our last 14 matches, if we only won 11 out of our last 14 this season it would mean finishing on 78pts. would be hard to imagine that wouldn't be enough to finish top 4. we will need a fair bit of luck with those above us dropping points too.

We have seen in the January window our major competition for that fourth place all sign and strengthen the team. And big names all with proven premiership experience at that. I think that was the nail in the 4th place coffin for me. To be honest I think after watching Arsenal play, then us this weekend, plus with mkhitaryan signing. I see Arsenal challenging for that fourth place now. Liverpool especially with Virgil VD will give them a run for their money.
Let’s face it Liverpool will win tonight, and it’s hard 3 games in a row for us. I think after those 3 games we will be in 6th, and that is realistically where I expect us to finish. We had a good previous 2 years, but as usual the teams around us all strengthening their squads after poor seasons is no surprise and we are back to just about where we deserve to be given our squad. I would have said maybe 5th but Arsenal have picked up there game and I think mkhitaryan will fit in well with them and Sky are now saying they expect Aubameyan to join him in next couple of days, Sky also saying Malcom’s manager confirms “he will not leave this window”. For me that all adds to me thinking they could beat us to fifth.

That line up almost smacked of Poch saying 'see how bad we need to sign someone Levy?'.
I don't really believe that but I also cant believe Poch thought that line up was our best option.
Very upset as I think thats us done now and have no hope of getting top 4 which is gonna make summer transfer gossip fkin painful.

Remember this:

Our fixture list was horrendous - we had to play all four of the teams still above us in the final six games. It had a happy ending.

Whereas this one inexplicably saw us miss out on Champions League football:

Both were later in the season than we are now.

Point is - there's a lot of football left to play.

Your right there is a lot of football left to play but as the poster you quoted said I'm not entirely convinced that we can get top four.
For some reason I just don't see the team being able to go on a run this year too many times this season we have looked flat and uninsiring compared to last year where I felt at one point we could do it.
We have a very good side but to me we look a little off the pace this time plus I cannot see us getting a result at Liverpool or Chelsea which we may need to do in order to reduce the gap.

Thought we'd finish 5th after the summer transfer window closed, and that's still where my money would be at this stage. And with a gun to my head I'd currently say we're more likely to finish 6th than we are to finish 4th.

Given I wasn't expecting a top 4 finish this season, I'll be happy as long as we finish above Arsenal. Would be very upset if we both fail to make the top 4 and end up below Arsenal; and I'm a bit worried about the prospect of that.

everybody but City are still within striking distance. we are going to have to elevate our play but top 4 is by no means out.

Oh look Liverpool currently losing to Swansea.

It's not over, even if Liverpool come back and beat Swansea. This is the premier league, literally anyone can beat anyone (except citeh)

With Liverpool losing to Swansea it makes it feel worse about yesterday’s result, we could’ve been in top 4 right now. But at least we are 1 points closer Liverpool, only 2 points from the top 4. I’m confident we will finish top 4
