We all said that last year.
I didnt, Big difference is that the new managers are settling their teams, 3 (ish with Klopp) new managers last year and we were the more settled team. its showed in performances and where they are in the table currently. Next year will be tougher, be interesting to see what signings are made in the summer by the top 6.

to be honest it should of been way out of reach by halftime, Sterling had a mare all match
I really don’t ‘get’ Sterling at all. Hugely overrated player IMHO. Regularly makes poor decisions, woeful finishing for a forward player.

If only Sterling put at least one away. They should have buried Utd but instead Utd are going to be on a high. Second is gone imo but the SF looks far more difficult now than at 6:15pm.

SF was always going to be difficult. It's not like one win suddenly improves United for the rest of the season. United have had the same players all season and were always capable of this. They just have a shit manager with shit tactics.

Us getting 2nd is gone now imo.
Frustratingly, as at HT I was starting to think that we can really do it, in fact I was starting to become convinced it was going to be ours. Did not see that second half coming at all. Still want bragging rights over the dippers though

United still have ordinary players who are overperforming. Today they had something to play for and did it. I can see them going back to their boring format next week and drop points.

I still have every faith we can get 2nd.

3rd would be great, but 2nd and the FA Cup should be our aim.

Although after watching City fall apart twice in a week I’m half tempted to say let’s just go for 1st...

Against West Brom at home.

There isn't an easier game.

The thing is, it doesn’t matter how boring they are, they have been grinding points out all season and that’s why they are 4pts better off than us.

And we havn't had the benefit of true home advantage all season.

Pretty certain we'd be ahead of them had that been the case.

The ifs and buts don't really matter at the end of the day though, do they? If they finish ahead of us, then they've undoubtedly been the better side in the PL this season. Hopefully - if we don't catch them this season - then your instinct will prove correct and we'll finish above them in the first season at the new Lane.

To be honest, I know some people already see it as a certainty but I'll just be happy when top 4 is mathematically achieved. Then I can truly relax and look back on the season with a smile on my face at us having done so after not even having our own home venue. It will be somewhat disappointing if we don't win the FA Cup but considering how doom and gloom playing at Wembley seemed at the start of the season I think I would have taken just a top 4 finish this season anyway. Will be a fantastic achievement.

Imo they're not a better side, but if they finish above us they deserve to, as contradictory as all that sounds.

Pity they won earlier , as I think we could of taken them otherwise.

Just pointing out we've been at a bit of disadvantage all season, for me it's been a remarkable season when you consider it all in context.

I can't stand Liverpool but they're a better side than United as well imo.

They are efficient.

Out of the top six sides Utd sit sixth for chances created. They also are sixth for expected goals if you believe in that metric.

In the long run I'd rather be a team who is wasteful but creates a lot because you can improve profligacy over time whereas you can't keep getting away with scoring your first shot on target or only having three shots on goal and scoring two. What has also helped Utd is De Gea. Only three other keepers have made more saves and they play for Swansea, Everton and Stoke. Hugo is 14th in the rankings and has made 39 fewer stops. De Gea pulls off the spectacular more than most and he makes less mistakes than Hugo who has conceded goals he should have stopped, but ultimately De Gea is required to do more. Having your keeper bail you out so often also is unsustainable because what if he leaves, gets injured or loses form?
