Unless my maths is shit (which could be possible) we need 3 wins for 4th.

I still want second though.

Yeah that’s done, probably 1 win to be absolutely certain, they won’t win all 6 left.

14 games unbeaten in the league. 36 points out of 40.

City went the first half of the season unbeaten with 53/57 points.

Five more wins takes us the entire second half of the season unbeaten and 51/57 points.

Sorry but the pedant in me makes me point out that 14 games would give a total of 42 points, not 40. So we have got 36 out a possible 42, still bloody good going though!

I think Chelsea are in a spot of bother, Abramovic doesn't appear to be willing to out spend everybody to win things anymore, no CL football for the second time in 3 years, and a manager who doesn't appear to have his heart in it. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hazard go in the summer, potentially a couple others as well. Good. Bellends.

He could outspend everyone with fifty million when he started now he needs five or six times that much and there's more clubs to compete with so I reckon you're right, or more likely he can't just outspend everybody now.

I agree with this but they still spent around £250m (circa £70m net) in the last two windows.

It’s not like Abramovic 10 years ago but he does still spend a lot of money. I just think they’ve bought really badly.

Morata doesn’t score enough goals and cost £60m. He replaced Costa who was a prick but much better suited to scoring goals in this league, and with a goal scorer’s record.

Drinkwater, Barkley, Zappacosta, Balayoko, Giroud. None of them really offer a lot and combined they cost around £130m.

Also, each time they fire a manager it gets harder for them, too, and that seems to happen quite a lot! They have to start totally from scratch again. I’m loving it at the moment.

Chelsea have been very lucky with the manager rotation stuff. They really are running out of top draw options. Plus they are due a lemon. The thing is as well if they do hit a lemon next and fire him say at Xmas it’s incredible hard to find a top notch manager mid season. I think Chelsea will have to change their philosophy. Poch Klopp Jose all look like they are in for the long haul even pep might be. I think their model may have had its time.

He's not really hands on anymore.

Back then he did everything to be the top team in Europe and directly undermined his managers. Mourinho didn't ask for Shevchenko and Ballack. Ancelotti didn't want Torres. AVB wanted an overhaul but RA supported the senior players.

They eventually scabbed the UCL but not in the way he wanted. Nonetheless he won it and ever since has stepped back and let a group of directors dictate Chelsea's activity.

I don't think he's done but I also don't think he'll ever be willing to go to the depths of investing from his pocket as before.

If they attract a top manager, give him £150M-£200M to spend, and have no Europe next year (Arsenal look like they could finish above Chelsea now) then they could easily repeat what they did in Conte's first season. Losing Hazard would be a big blow though, and their squad is much weaker due to a disastrous summer window last year.

They’ll have Europe. The places go down to seventh.
