Liverpool, City and us will all drop more points in upcoming games, but it's fruitless trying to predict how all the results will tally over the next 13 games. It's such a cliche but we do really have to take it one game at a time, and treat each consecutive game as a final. It's been brilliant watching our fight-to-the-death mentality in scoring late winners recently, and we need to keep that intensity and spirit to the end!

I'm certainly not confident of us getting max points from Anfield, the Etihad or Stamford Bridge. Neither are Liverpool, City or Chelsea of getting max points from the games they play against us. So it makes for an extremely interesting run in!

Yeah I think people are getting a bit carried away at this stage.

We also have Chelsea away, Arsenal home and Dortmund away all in the space of a week, and despite Kane progressing well no guarantee of him or Ali playing in any of them.

I don't agree that people are getting carried away.

City, Liverpool, Spurs all have won 19 PL games. Thats the fact. Instead of being 'not sure we are good enough' attitude, we the fans have to look at the cold hard facts here. Ofcourse, the 2 have the edge over us interms of goal difference & they have few more point on board. But end of the day, after 25 games of PL, we have got the same number of wins as our competitors.

It is really disappointing to see comments like 'people are getting carried away'.

City are still in 4 competitions & aren't playing as well as they have done last season. Their squad is showing signings of weakness. Liverpool are showing strains. They have lost more points in last 5 than first 20 games.

Kane is not here or not, for the moment we are getting the result. I hope he comes back soon and fit and can contribute.

I am pretty sure Poch & team believes we have a realistic chance. From a fans perspective, we also have to start believing in the team

I don't see the point in being a football fan if you don't get carried away to be honest, It's football you're meant to believe your team can do it. If people are saying we are nailed on for the title, fair enough that's getting carried away but people getting excited about possibly being in a title race is exactly what we as fans should be doing, we need to enjoy these moments.

It’s all good you saying that mate, but when we do start all believing as a fan base, these group of players always find a way to mess it up. It’s just a fact, we can’t seem to get over the line in terms of winning a trophy or obviously seriously challenging the league. When facts prove every single season we just don’t have that extra mentality or bottle for the final hurdle, isn’t it any wonder why a lot of us are so pessimistic ? I just don’t think we’re good enough for the title mate and I don’t trust us to fully take advantage if others do mess up. Nothing wrong with people being optimistic, but at the same time nothing wrong with being a realist. We are just not good enough to win this league unfortunately.

Not picking an argument but the embolden could also read "Nothing wrong with being a pessimist, but at the same time nothing wrong with being a realist."
Both dependent on ones outlook in life. IMHO

Every time I look at the table right now I can’t help but feel frustrated at the stonewall penalty Son was denied last minute v Liverpool.

We still aren't genuinely considered title contenders by majority of the media and opponent fans. It's incredible that after 25 games, we have won 19 games. This is EQUAL with a team that has the supposed best attacking trio in the PL (despite being outscored by City btw), the other team having one of the best teams in PL history, and both having spent vast amounts of money more.
Yes, we have lost more games and titles are often won by teams who are hard to beat, but the reality is I don't think it has dawned on many that we have won just as many games as the 'real contenders'.

Phenomenal effort really!

The fact that we have to play
both our rivals
is what puts us right in it.
We can actually
directly influence the outcome
Otherwise we are dependent
on others.
and they can be
very unreliable
If we don't beat either or both
we don't deserve it.
What a great position
to be in at this stage.

You could put it down to mentality or bottle if you're a pessimist, if you're a realist you could put it down to lack of squad depth and experience.

Not sure I'd be making an absolute statement to say that we're not good enough to win the league, anything can happen.

But the “cold, hard facts” are that as well as still being 5 points off the top, we have to play both our direct rivals at their ground. If we were at the new stadium or old WHL for those games I would feel differently, but we’re not.

The two occasions we’ve played City there under Pep we’ve got completely outplayed, despite getting a very fortunate draw in one of the games. And our record at Anfield is not good, again despite playing well in the second half there last season ( although we still didn’t win).

So I stand by what I said. All things considered, realistically I think it’s a very tough ask.

Why not mate ? When season after season it tells us this side just doesn’t have what it takes.

Because in the majority of time we've been there or there abouts there's mitigating factors why we haven't picked up a trophy, calling us merely legends is a lazy argument and feeds into the media narrative.

It feels much more relaxed than the last 2 times. Everything has conspired against us this season yet we are still there. Just feels like a massive unexpected bonus and we can just watch city and Liverpool take all the heat.

Thats very different to saying 'people getting carried away'....

While its sucks we cant get into new stadium, the cold hard facts also point out our impeccable away record inspite of injuries, late WC arrivals, 0 preseason for first XI, stadium issues, no transfers etc etc etc....

We have had nothing going for us this season -yet here we are, winning same number of games as City & Liverpool.

Ofcourse, it will be a tough job away at City & Liverpool. But its ridiculous to say - we have a bad record at Liverpool & City , so we will not win there this time too...We have turned our away record at United, we have turned our record against Chelsea too. We have the best away record this season, but somehow according to you that goes out of the window at those 2 clubs.

If we can't cherish & relish the opportunity we are given now, whats the point of supporting the team...Its like saying, I will believe Spurs can win the league, after Spurs win the league.

There was a stat sometime back ,which looked at points puttogether for 3 years, and we came no1 across 3 seasons. Yet fell short in a single season - that doesn't say we are not good enough. It just says we are challenging year in year out. Our points record in 2016/17 of 86 wins PL title atleast 7 or 8 times in the past PL years.

So its up to you - how you want to view this - glass half empty or half full

Think some are underestimating two things with Liverpool:

1) fatigue setting in a bit, this happened to them last season, trying to keep a high intensity going for a full season

2) the pressure of being top and potentially throwing it away. I hope we're still behind them by the time we go up there (1-2 points behind preferably)

All the pressure will be on them and we'll have a fresh Kane and Dele back - hopefully.

City are the tougher proposition. They have KDB back and he'll starting finding that rhythm soon. They have the best squad and can cope best with injuries.
If they go far in the CL though this could have an impact on the league.

City are favourites for me but if we can keep in touch with them until we play them you just don't know what can happen in 90 minutes. It's not like there's a massive gulf between the two sides.

We have a chance though, even though it looks tough, we really do.

I'm glad we're just below them both, in a strange way it gives us a psychological edge in that we can play with a bit more freedom with the expectancy and pressure all on the other two.

City vs Chelsea on Sunday, genuinely not sure what result I want. My heart is telling me Chelsea win but my head says City.
