But they will want to win group or may face a CL team in last 32. Also have 3 or 4 on long term injury so only really have 18 outfield players. Welbeck is a bad injury for them means lacazette or Auba have to play every game.

if and I say if they where to lose that game away they would still be top, and when they play Qarabag at home it is sandwiched between 2 much easier Premier games in which they would only need a win, and unless Qarabag beat Sporting in the other fixture they will be trying to hard when they play Arsenal.

they don't have to take their 1st team out there, and I very much doubt they will. they started the last match with using only 2 starters that would usually start a Premier League match, and other than the 1st game have played it pretty similar all the way through so far

so they could most probably rest or even leave their starting XI at home, and use list B if they have enough

Possible but they haven't won the group yet. They finish second they could get a team dropping from the cl can't they?
We'll see. Think they'll leave a few home but take the rest.

I’d also consider Emery has taken it very seriously so far. To him the NLD may just be another game.

They could face a CL team either way. The CL 3rd placed sides are half seeded and half unseeded for the last 32 depending on their record in the CL group stage.

You win the group you can't face a cl team no?

Nope. Seeded sides are the 12 Europa group winners, and four CL 3rd placed teams with better records. Unseeded sides are the 12 Europa group runners-up, and four CL 3rd-placed teams with worse records.

Didn't realise it changed. Madness.

Been that way for years ever since they made it the Europa rather than the old UEFA Cup format. If you had all the CL dropouts seeded you'd have to have the worst four out of twelve group winners from the Europa unseeded which would arguably be taking the mickey a bit.

Still if they are runners up they have a chance of facing cl drop outs.

They would have to lose or draw both their final games to miss out providing Sporting win both theirs. 1 win guarantees top spot, and their last game at home is against a team that will definitely be out, and is sandwiched between 2 soft PL teams. They haven’t been using a strong squad bar the 1st group match, so really don’t see them dragging the majority of their squad on a 7k round trip (or 3.5k) for a game that shouldn’t be to hard anyway.

Don’t get me wrong I hope they do, and all suffer a stomach bug mid air going, but I definitely wouldn’t be making an easier game for us on the back of it

Mendy had knee surgery. That’s a big loss for them although they did manage last season lol. I think the guys a sick note though he just doesn’t look right when he runs.

I like how it's the big six these days. Was always the top 4 when I was growing up
Believe me Sky will start calling it the big 5 if its ever us who drops to 6th. Its only 6 because its their darlings Arsenal and makes them feel important. I know they USED to finish top 4 regular but history is history.
Still cracks me up that media pundits still cant get their tiny minds around the fact that 6 doesn't fit into 4.
Brother told me there was one on ts recently and they asked him who he thought would finish top 4. He gave his answers. A fan rang up and said 'so you dont think Liverpool will get top 4?'
I said Liverpool.
'Er... no you didn't.'
Oh... well.. yeah obviously Liverpool will be top 4.
'So who isnt then.'
Errr.......

Was so much easier for them when it was sky 4 and 'I think Man u will win it.'
Thanks for the great insight Jeff (y)
