Yep. Best ever start for Spurs to a Premier League season and the usual suspects all over this site are behaving pathetically; pissing their pants and melting over everything. It's a joke.
If you just forget for a moment how many points we have, there's definitely a reason to be worried about how our playing looks. I think we've been a bit lucky and opponents mistakes have saved us a few times. But the positive note is that I don't think we are going to play worse than this and we can expect some players to get better, and back from injuries. But we can also expect that from our rivalries. For the first time I think this international break can be a good thing, hopefully many of our players stay away from the pitch.

Unless City had scored that penalty yesterday.

If Chelsea hadn’t wasted a million chances against West Ham they’d be top.

Every team can rue dropped points.
Yeah i know, my post was more in depressed jest than actual feeling of it being a missed opportunity to go top.

If we'd have held on against Watford, the results of the other games would have changed in turn. We could be sitting top, could be mid-table, like Utd. Things seem alright for now so I'm not gonna start worrying about results unless we don't beat PSV x2 or struggle in our next few PL games

Fair to say that City, Chelsea and Liverpool hit the ground running and Arsenal have found a groove but we didn't and haven't and are looking the least impressive so far. That being the case I'd suggest the others would have appreciated a little more space between us or more correctly, any space at all, truth is that we have so much more in the tank which will improve us as players return after their injury rest.

Wasn’t having a go at you, it’s a point fans often bring up.

Got a Utd supporting mate who seasons ago listed a bunch of games they were expected to win but didn’t. It really isn’t relevant.

The point is our fixtures are incredibly unbalanced in regard to home and away. And we have no idea when we actually will be truly home. If we did go home December 15th which is the start of the 7/10 home run it could make a significant difference.
I see you are not into embracing the one match at a time approach.

I think that if any of the other top 4 contenders were playing as poorly as we have at times but still grinding out victories, people here would call it the "champions mentality" and be warning about how good those teams will be when they get into their groove. When it's us doing it the negative fans just go negative.

The people predicting that our season will fall apart in the next 5 games were likely the same who predicted that we wouldn't win any of our first 5 due to the WC and no signings. If we get decent points from those 5 they will predict that we fall apart during the Christmas fixture schedule. It's very boring.

All of the top 6 teams look pretty capable this season imo. If we can recapture the sort of form that we've seen in recent seasons we should be good for a top 4 finish. It's going to be pretty tight if we don't get that form back, but certainly not an impossible situation.

Great that we've managed to grind out 18 points from 8 games, but worth remembering that we've only played two of the big teams so far. Every other team we've played, bar Watford, is a team who will probably be scrapping to stay out of relegation this year.

In those 8 games, we've also only managed three clean sheets, and our overall play hasn't been convincing at all.

I'm no less worried now than I was three weeks ago, even after wins against Huddersfield and Cardiff.

Almost 1/4 of the way through and 2 points off the top. Not playing brilliantly but nothing that can’t be remedied. The winter months always produces our best form under Pochettino, I have faith.

Or, in 8 games we’ve already face 2 of the other 3 teams from last season’s top 4.

I can be disingenuous with statistics too :)

Honestly think anything can happen this season. The WC has clearly effected top clubs form across Europe. It may come down to who can keep their top players fit for the season. In fact this little injury crisis may do us a favour long term. 4 of our WC semi finalists will now have had extended rests lloris vertoghen dele dembele (eriksen). Trippier Rose dier alderweireld can all easily be rotated. It really is just Kane, but he’s now actually looking good so maybe he’s played through it. Honestly think Liverpool will fade, they are so reliant on the front 3. There’s just no way that front 3 can keep up the intensity all season. Added to this week they will all be playing x2 games in far flung places in Africa. In those front positions we’ve got much more quality options bar Kane. We have 5 for 2 positions. Although Sturrridge and shaqiri show moments of quality. Still think they are a massive drop off from the other 3.

Yeah, I don't think that saying we have had an easy run of fixtures is really valid. It could be argued that Chelsea and City have both had easier (or roughly equal) fixtures but nobody is saying that they are going to struggle further down the line.

We haven't been playing as nicely as most of us would probably want but I don't think that's cause to predict the absolute worst like many people seem to be doing.

I think we certainly couldn't have asked for 2 better games than Huddersfield and Cardiff, quite clearly the weakest 2 teams in the league, to play in the midst of our injury and performance problems.

The positive is that we've managed so many points playing below par, which they say is a sign of a good team.

The worry is, we have a lot of players short of form and key players injured or coming back from injury whilst everyone around us continues to pick up points as well.

Most of our players have two games a week for the next 3/4 weeks now which is either going to make them feel more fatigued or is a good chance to play their way into form, depends which way you look at it :X3:

The worry is also, that yes we may have been picking up points playing this badly so far, but there is only so long we can continue like this before we stop winning. So we need to improve and quickly.

I’m still quietly confident but with a big emphasis on the quietly.

Having said that I’m worried about how long we’ve been playing badly for. We always, as most teams do, go through a spell of bad performances but only for a few games until we turn it around, but this season has been pretty gash, from a performance standpoint, since day 1.

Each week I expect us to kick into gear but it’s almost getting worse. The latest thing I’m telling myself is that we’ll be ok once everyone is back.

I was one of those who predicted 5th and I stand by that. I believe Pool, City and Chelsea will be the top three and we will be fighting it out with the Goons - who have finally discovered how beneficial working off the ball as well as with it is - and United, who surely have to either improve under Mourinho, or a new leader. Given the injuries to key players we keep picking up, and a wafer thin depth of squad with real quality, I am struggling to see better than 5th. And 6th is by no means out of the question. Especially if we keep getting those injuries and refuse to swallow our pride and accept the necessity of strengthening in January.
