The stars reallly are aligning for Liverpool this season. From getting away with a certain penalty against us in injury time which would have got us a draw, to the last minute fluke winner against Everton, City missing a penalty against them in the last few minutes at Anfield, Sturridges last minute equaliser against Chelsea, to two deflected goals against United to give them the win. I know there’s been plenty more. The last time I saw a side have this much luck was when Leicester won the league.

It’s quite amazing really. Can’t stand the ****s.

Can say exactly the same about ourselves really...

City and Liverpool are on their own this season we are one of three for the other top four slots it's no bad thing but more a realistic one.

Yeah they are 5/6 points ahead of us, rarely drop points themselves and most crucially we have already played both teams at home and lost both games.

We are in a much better position than I envisaged and I would be delighted with 3rd considering all the things we’ve had to deal with this season.

When are Liverpool going to lose, luck or quality, they always seem to win . It's bloody annoying.

Personally I don't begrudge them if they win the title as they are ambitious and hired a good manager then backed him with investment which in turn will reap rewards for them.

The league is a war of attrition and Liverpool's injuries are starting to mound up, compared to City's financially doped squad

The scousers will go to City in early Jan and lose; City will be too good for them against a depleted defence

It's all to do with resources and City have a country backing them

Tbh, I almost feel sorry for the Liverpool fans who think they're actually in a title challenge

Well I guess as far as the race for the top four is concerned the Liverpool United result is a good one, United, if they were able to catch us most certainly aren't now so just one more side to shake off and we will be safe for the top four.
That said it's a bloody shame as I'd have liked to have stated closing the gap at the top, still I suppose there's plenty of time to go.

Utd aren't getting nowhere near top 4 regardless.

IMO, we will need wins at their place if we're to have any hope for the title. It will be very difficult, but it's not an impossible challenge.

As long as we're able to keep pace with them I will keep hoping. They are still within sight and that's all that matter.s

Never expected us to be in our current position. Let's stay within touching distance of 1st. If our injury situation eases and Poch continues to blood a youngster or two then we in for an exciting 2nd half to the season.

If Poch only uses his core group in midfield, we could run them into the ground and fade away, much like we did in April/May last season.

Lets maintain the momentum and beat Everton next week. I believe it gets a tad bit easier after that game.

This could turn out like a horse race where the front two put so much pressure on each they both crack and we pick up the pieces. The pressure they are exerting on each other this early will surely tell. One of them or hopefully both will crack.

What core group in midfield? Dier, wanyama, and dembele are all out. We had to play an 18 year old there yesterday. It's not like he has much choice.

Yes understand that and we down to a small core.... it's the reason I'd hope he uses more of his academy or even perhaps recall Onomah and reintegrate him into the squad.

I think its telling that he blooded Skipp without going back for Onomah or Edwards. Writing is on the wall IMO.

I see what you're saying but at the same time it's not like we had much choice. We're in the midst of an injury crisis in the middle of the park with Wanyama, Dembele, and Dier all unavailable for the foreseeable future and our fixture congestion was such that Poch felt he needed to rotate. We can't recall the loanees until January so Skipp was the only option.

It will be interesting to see what we do with Onomah once the transfer window is open again. Reading through his thread in the Loanwatch forum it really seems as though he definitely needs to get out of his current loan. If he continues to be overlooked despite the obvious need for central midfielders then you may well be right that the writing is on the wall.
