I wasn't suggesting at any point at all we were the spurs of old

Also im not saying we havent shown great signs of mental strength. We have done brilliant to always be in the race and not completely capitulate like we have done in the past under harry for example.

However I dont think we have that winning gene, or winning mentality or mamba mentality

If Poch left this summer, I personally think Mourinho would take us to another level however I would hate what we would have become under a manager mourinho. Pep isn't very different to mourinho as a person but his good style football wins him many hearts as opposed to Mourinho.

I personally think at times we dont believe we are the real deal especially at the start of the season. I think Poch can take us to the next level but he needs to develop that winning gene.

Mourinho? lol

Gonna assume that this is a typo.

I was really impressed by Arnold, he is gonna be a top player. We are a very good team but we have a couple of players that wouldn’t get anywhere near either of City or Liverpool’s first teams.

Developing takes time - how long did Ferguson take to win a league title? I personally think it is happening as per the things I quoted in my previous post but only time will tell I guess. I hope I'm not proved wrong.

We're 6 points off Liverpool at the top with 17 games left to play including against them and City. Anything can happen and we should get behind the team with a winning mentality!
this is 100% correct.
Question to consider is do you think of Pool or City were playing at wembley for the last 1.5 seasons and didn't spend any money the last 2 years would they be better or worse of than we are at the mo. + all the injuries. SO much to be proud of even if the odds are that we don't finish top

Fergie was lucky he had not to face the oil sheiks and oil barons. Poch, in comparison, is disadvantaged in that however good we become under him, there are teams which can drown us with their money.

If everyone was fit, i still simply cannot see us winning the leaghe. We just are not nearly as good as what I watched tonight. We’re the 3rd best side in the league IMO. That was an incredible, riveting match featuring the 2 best sides in the league. I’d love to see us in one of these games soon and I believe we will be one day but this year is not it.

Oh I do agree with that. It's just a very strange season from a Spurs perspective. We've lost 5 games but are only 2 points behind this ridiculous City team 21 games in, despite all the crap Poch has had to deal with. I guess there's a bit of luck in that we've avoided any draws against the lesser sides, which have cost us in the past.

I think we are only 1 or 2 quality players away however. We have decent depth (which is the issue I took), just need to plug a couple of holes. We are close.

I wish we were playing Liverscum, at Anfield, next weekend instead of manure - that would have been very interesting... if we are within touching distance still come 30th March id be a) very surprised and b) very excited

Nah! Ndombele’s medical with us would not have been completed yet. :cautious:

From reading your posts for years now I get the impression you would be too invested to enjoy a match like tonight if we were in it.

Our 1-1 at the Nou-Camp was an incredible game.

Fergie and the subsequent manager's who have held the position since he left have not had to worry as Utd owners have backed them with cash, the problem is that the manager or players have not been good enough or struggled with the weight of expectation.

It’s fine if they don’t want to include us. It’s less pressure on us at this stage and there’s plenty of football to play.

We’ll probably finish 10 or more points behind the eventual leaders anyway, but let’s just see how we get on over the next 3 months.

If we’re 3-5 points off the top in mid-March and they are still not considering us in the race then, yeah, that’s a bit different.
It’s better when we are under the radar. Top four would be amazing this season given all the variables and anything else is a bonus.

IMHO when people are constantly saying you can't do something, and you don't for few years you, start to believe in it. Media do not believe in us because we haven't won anything in years. Our players can start to think similar about themselves. We have to win something, even stupid Carabao Cup to give our team/club taste of glory so they believe they are winners.

Last nights matcg was entertaining, intense, gung ho and a great spectacl, but I’m not understanding these comments about us not being able to perform to that level. The actual quality of football was good but neither was at their swashbuckling best. Both can play better, and in fact our performance v Chelsea was far better than either side played last night, and at that time Chelsea were unbeaten too.

Going forward, sure, but they targeted him defensively - a Liverpool supporting friend of mine feels he's the weakest link in their back line

He's got great potential and I think he'll be a fantastic player, but defensively he's still learning his trade...as you'd expect for someone his age in fairness

I agree with a few others on here in that we are great when we are chasing the pack, but the moment it comes to the real crunch, we just lack that extra winning mentality to push us over the line. It’s all good denying it, but it has happened season after season and is the reason why we just don’t seem to win stuff.

The club needs to get the monkey off it’s back and produce a trophy this season simple as. Winning breeds success and even if it’s just the league cup, it will give us a platform to build on next season and the players will go into the season with a different mindset knowing full well this team have what it takes to win trophies.

If we Go another season plotless and it’s just the same us, always the bridesmaids, but never the bride. We have made huge strides under Pochettino and our mentality is obviously nowhere near “spursy” like before, but despite all this greatness, we still have nothing to show for it.

I would be incredibly disappointed if this Spurs side broke up and we won nothing. I just personally don’t think we have the bottle to win the league. Can we win it? Of course we can, we are more than capable, but answer me this question..... say in 2 months time we claw back all the points on City and Liverpool, we have a weekday game in hand to go top above them both, would you trust Spurs to get the 3 points to go top ? Be honest now. I certainly wouldn’t and I think the vast majority of Spurs fans have that doubt to still.

Looking at the remaining fixtures, we have it the hardest. No way we're in the title race. Worrying for me is that Liverpool's run in is probably the easiest.
That's the spirit, half way through and "no way we're in the title race." Why not say it like it is, Liverpool bottled it last night, lucky to get away with a 2-1.

Three things I think we missing:
1) luck with injuries
2) a home
3) a true leader to get into players. Henderson isn't good enough for our team but you see him getting into his players. Our most vocal is Hugo and he is in his penalty box. We need an outfielder leader who is vocal. Someone who sees Wolves getting on top and gets into the players to up the tempo. I feel with Kane it's more about leading by actions.

Thought it was funny at the end when Gary Neville was asked if there was a third team in the race, aftee spending a full half an hour talking about the other two - one of which is only two points ahead of us, and he simply replies...

'no, I don't think so, they don't have the detph' ?

If I hear that line one more time I'm going to rip my hair out.

Seriously though, we're 21 games into the season, not five and sit this high IN SPITE of all our injuries.

Am I the only one who finds the irony in this completely fucking absurd?

And that we're about to get Vertonghen, Dier and Dembele back.

Shhh, don’t tell them. They’ll work it out eventually by which time it will be too late for them.

City's fans need to be very loud and vocal and really put pressure on the ref, even boo Salah whenever he gets the ball.

Unfortunately it's probably one of the least intimidating atmospheres in the UK.

They really upped it last night, to be fair!
