I was just wondering about academy players and who out of our youngest might look like they've got what it takes and i suddenly remembered - Radwan Hamed always got good reviews, but didn't he collapse against Brugge or someone earlier this season? I never heard any more news about him - anyone (and EB you can rightly assume i will glance more than once in your general direction) know how the lad's doing?

Dude, i got no choice - my job is to think of the kids!

Hell, i'm slowly brainwashing an army of toddlers into becoming my army of the future - got a fair size band of merry-men with bows now, i'll be taking my rifles instructor course next month, then we can start on the howitzer and ground-to-air training... though there's not really much call for it in Scouts.

Apart from the "shoot down a nazi" badge

might have made that up though...

Dunno, you can probably join as an officer, if it still works like that

Surprisingly, Cubs are by a long way not the worst - Scouts are sometimes a mission to control, but listen well most of the time at least. Lot of them are Emo too, so at least you can laugh at them a bit.

Beavers are a nightmare - they don't listen, but even if they did, they couldn't hear you. Beaver colony meetings appears to involve running about in grey tracksuits and shouting.

a lot.

Anyways, back the Rad'man...

Mr Hamed - can we get a sitrep please?

I'm waiting for EddieBailey to spot this thread and come in with a full rundown of the guy's progress since he went all spazzed during that match

EB's a great resource for lazy people like me

We're waiting for EddieBailey to show himself - he knows the score with our ressies usually, and is quite informed and well spoken, which i appreciate, even if none of the other cave-types here do :shifty:

Radwan Hamed was my pick of the bunch to make a good show of this season in the ressies and earn himself a few glances from the boss, but it's all a bit up in the air - i'm not even entirely sure what it was wrong with him

As a fellow sufferer of heart failure and arrhythmias I suspect his professional career is over .

Not sure which is less bad ; to achieve your lifetime goal like Seville's Puerta and die young and in ignorance or have your dream snatched away when you are so close .

is that what happened then? that's some bad news, and sorry to hear about your health too dude.

I remember it being a heart condition he was diagnosed with but i can't remember much more than that.

He's been listed as part of our reserves again this year, and now i've checked the site (d'oh, why i didn't do that first) it was a game against Circle Bruges at a tournament...

Sorry, I have heard nothing. The club announced that he had been awarded a professional contract a couple of months after his collapse, so they are looking after him, but whether or not they think he has a realistic chance of playing again I wouldn't know.

 thanks for stopping by anyway, dude - encouraging to hear that the club are still involved with him and fingers crossed he gets fit enough to compete again. He's incredibly young to have suffered something like this though, surely?

Sorry to necro a dead-thread, but, taking over from our Chrissy on the site, DC has had this to say:

Damien Comolli said:
Following a great deal of interest from supporters, Damien went on to report that young forward Radwan Hamed is making steady progress.

"His recovery has been positive. He was at the training ground again this week for further physio treatment and catching up with his team-mates."

Awesome news and fingers crossed he continues to improve

Good news, hoping to see how the academy comes along with the general work ethic that should filtrate through the club under Ramos.

While the academy won't be directly under Ramos' control, you would have thought that his approaches would be generally followed, certainly the fitness work under Alvarez.

Hopefully Radwan can make a full recovery and progress well under the new regime.

Oh and binary sudoku is naturally impossible! 2 isn't a square number...duh!:stupid:

Don't think it would be prudent for young Radwan to continue his footballing career. Isn't this the same scenario as that Sevilla player?

Just like my local laundrette doesn't do duvets, i don't do sudoku

It could be impossible because of the clowns signing a peace treaty with the residents of Mogadishu for all i know...

Don't think it would be prudent for young Radwan to continue his footballing career. Isn't this the same scenario as that Sevilla player?

As far as I know Radwan , Puerta , Terry Yorath's boy all collaspsed due to arrythmias caused by abnormal (thickened/stretched) heart muscles and hadn't exhibited symptoms of heart failure like shortness of breath before .

I had a defibrilator implanted a couple of years back and have not since had a life threatening arrhythmia to require it to discharge .

Only times I've felt it being there are when I've sneazed and when mucking around with a mate and tried to catch a football on the part of my chest where it protrudes .

There are smaller ones available now , possibly small enough so that contact sport would not be a problem unless you are playing Ben Thatcher .

These footballers must have regular ECG's from an early age but that doesn't always spot probs .

If his heart will pump well enough for him to be competitive at any professional level , he still might have trouble persuading governing bodies to allow him to compete .

The drop out rate is so cruel . Young players need to hedge their bets and not neglect their education . Believe they manage this better in France than over here .

Good Luck Radwan , give it your best shot .
