I like the tactical changes he has made....

We defend higher up the pitch meaning less 25 yard pop shots at our goal which flew in 9 time out of 10..Ok Luke Young but you would tell him too shoot from there 99 times out of 100..Taken the pressure off Robbo.Do fear the lack of pace of Dawson in this system though.

We are organised at set pieces now..i know when havent been properly tested but there doesnt seem the panic under Ramos than there was under Jol. Attacking set pieces now have a bit of imagination...a couple of near post flicks on Dawson for the others to attack back post. Most games are decided on set pieces so this is a massive positive.

We are alot more compact with and without the ball. Jol liked to make the pitch big which is great when you have the ball but without it your wide open..the goals conceded was no real surprise...our players our closer together and can now close down in packs.

In possession we now play a quicker tempo mainly 2 touch football with nice little one twos and it helps us get 4 or 5 people in the box for the cross..Under Jol i noticed the ball into JJ and Zokora slowed the play down...Next time Spurs play watch how quickly JJ gets rid of it and gets forward....the JJ chance for the hattrick against Wigan..5 players involved in 15 yards with one touch football...lovely to watch and horrible to play against...Under Jol it was 2 in the box at the most...im amazing we scored many goals under Jol to be honest.

Our wingers attack the back post which we never did under Jol...Watch the likes of Lennon Bale and Steed get more goals.

The increased fitness is noticable too...the fitter you are the longer you can use your skills and technique...Wigan are a poor team but we played for about 70 minutes at the weekend..Things are looking up in my opinion!!!

Have you thought of having your eyes tested?

Thank you for reducing the font size. Why didn't you post under the other Ramos thread.

I'd have been really reeved if I went to the lane Sunday and they only played for 70 minutes, I'd be saying things like misrepresentation and shaking my fist like an annoyed person! :-|

I have noticed more purposeful running off the ball. I have also noticed the team as a whole are playing at a higher tempo. Still a bit shaky on set pieces though.

I think overall the shape on the pitch seems to be getting better with each game. I think you alluded to this in your note on compactness. Obviously this has something to do with a different tactical system. But I also think that Ramos demands his players play their roles too. These are good things, but things still need to get better. There is the typical "moaning" posters who shoot down any post, but you are right about differences, just not the extent, I think.

It's not fair on Jol or Ramos to come to any conclusions on tactics and ablity yet. In fact to date two of our hardest games were at old trafford and Anfiled, both under jol and both at times very good tactically and technically. We'll see tactically how we push up, restrict space, pass quickly and move well at west ham away.

Guys while I'm happy with Ramos start and was a big fan of his at Sevilla I think it's important that we don't get over excited just yet. It is still early days and will take a while for him to fully get his tactical messages across to the players. I hope if we lose to Spam then people don't start overly criticising his tactics and getting on the team's back

I think this has been quite good/fortunate. its like pre season against playing against shitty teams giving ramos a chance to sort out the players. after west ham away the run again looks quite easy. getting something from wham and i can seee this unbeaten run continuing for 7-8 games easy.

To answer your thread:

1 - Faster to the first ball

2 - Playing wider up-front

3 - Forwards facing our goal when receiving the ball to allow midfield to overlap

4 - no shoot on site (so far)

5 - Looks to me like 'Total Footie' is is on the cards

Ramos' tactical masterstroke of only playing piss-poor opposition is certainly working so far. If he can continue to only play against the likes of Middlesbrough and Wigan every week, we'll be fine. Unless it's next season as it probably means we've been relegated.

One tactic I've noticed is playing Steed on the left and Lennon on the right - to me (and others) this is so obviously the 'right way round' for them as wide players - but for whatever reason MJ went against this time and again - often IMHO to our detriment

Berbatov and Keanes roles reversed.

More energy in the middle, and when they start to flag a change is made.

Defending higher.

More forward movement from midfield. Not much, but definately more.

I also noticed that he yanks people playing piss poor pretty quick. Like Kaboul having a nightmare he put Chimbo in the middle.

I think simply we have played further up the pitch, with and without the ball. We have pressed the opposition in their half, rather than letting them get within 30 yards to shoot or cross.

We have stopped teams getting near out box, and you can see Ramos urging the players to push up and press. This in turn means when we get the ball we are in more attacking areas, and we havent got 10 men to break through.

Iys been good, but the next month will really show how far we have come.
