8 out of 10

Losing two cup games has scarred me for life. I haven't had a lob-on since we lost to Juventus plus I've developed a nervous tic and ever since our FA Cup exit I've stuttered and lost all self confidence, I barely leave the house any more. I also get feelings of intense anger over the slightest thing and have started shouting out random swear words when I'm fuck! piss! ****!

6/10?????? Talk about harsh. Some fans have become too hard to please. A 3rd place finish is a magnificent achievement given the circumstances. An above average 8/10 for me.

8 for mine. Finishing 3rd is an achievement considering the money spent by our nearest rivals, however would have loved to have snagged a trophy and who knows what could have happened if we got past Juve.

Highlights:

- CL Group phase and game in Turin.
- Smashing Liverpool 4 -1
- Breaking the Stamford Bridge hoodoo.
- Finishing 3rd playing away from White Hart Lane. If we were still at the Lane, we would have finished a clear 2nd.

Lowlights:

- CL knockout.
- Both City games.
- FA Cup Semi-Final.

6/10 because we haven't kicked on since last season, in fact we've regressed (2nd to 3rd and nowhere near the title). So really it should be 4, but I've added a couple back because we were playing at Wembley. Middle of the road season for me; glad we secured CL again but I expected that to be the bare minimum for a club with the quality of players we have and how we had been knocking on the door of PL title.

I would have been absolutely delighted if we won just one cup along with what we did achieve, would have boosted my rating to at least 9 if we won the FA Cup.

You can give Chelsea a 9 when they win the FA Cup because clearly that’s more important than being surpassed by a
Team with half their wage spend :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

They’re just more passionate fans than you and show it by shitting on every incremental improvement we make as a club on and off field :cautious::ROFLMAO:

6/10 for me, and I don’t think that’s harsh.

If we were benchmarking the season solely against our expectations before the first game had been played, then it’d be a solid 8.5/10, but expectations and even ideas of what’s realistically achievable develop and evolve as the season goes on.

We smashed the CL group stages, we had a great FA Cup run and we proved that playing away from WHL wasn’t the massive hoodoo everyone claimed it would be. And for that reason, I don’t think we can overlook the fact we’ve limped across the finishing line with not just disappointing results for the past 6 weeks, but with back-to-back performances which can be fairly described as shambolic.

We should have had 4th place wrapped up weeks ago, and from where we were a month ago we should’ve finished comfortably 2nd in the league. The fact we didn’t, and didn’t look like we even wanted to, really let us down.

Overall we’ve grown since last season but Poch has a lot of work to do over the summer both on his own in-game management and on the team’s mentality, which has looked shot to pieces for a while now.

A solid 8 for me. Would've snatched your hand off for a top 4 at start of season with the Wembley adjustment, and knowing that our richer rivals had invested heavily. We've been unlucky with key long-term injuries and fitness issues in multiple positions. All things considered, very good season.

Based on Wembley factor, CL performances, and finishing 3rd it has to be at least 7-8...

Of course i'm not fully satisfied with how we played - we were not the dangerous threat we used to be the last 2 seasons, mainly because of our fullbacks imo - and CM.

We missed...
beastmode Wanyama & Toby,
bombing Rose & Walker
Kane after his injury

but there are surely positives to take...

Jan's best season for us
Sanchez hit the ground running
Eriksen's most consistent season imo
Lucas looks like he could play a vital part next season

Highlights
Our CL group stage
Home games against Scum, Pool, United
First win at the Bridge since 91
2:2 at Anfield

Lowlights
First of all ... second half in the semi final... that broke my heart
Second leg against Juve
poor run-in after chelsea game

After all, we should be happy - it was always meant to be a season of transition away from home... now we are heading home and await a very very vital point in our history.... hope ITK is spot on and Levy will deliver, i'm optimistic but not getting carried away of course

I've gone with a 9.

When you consider the context of this season, playing away at Wembley, and the amount of injuries we've had in the squad, it's a phenomenal achievement that we've finished third. We made a significant improvement in the CL providing a number of great nights, and close again to picking up silverwear.

Obviously could have been better, but when you consider it as a season for us, I think a 9 is fair.

CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH! (could be the start of a shitty advert with those pricks from Soccer Saturday - I'm in a good mood :))
So much talk about crunch games and crunch moments, but these seem to only mean ones we lose.
What was our first competitive win at Wembley this season? Dortmund. CRUNCH! We'd not won there for ages, we had a terrible time there in the CL the previous year. We'd dropped as many league points in our first two home games as the whole of the previous season. CRUNCH! And we smashed them; the voodoo was gone.
CRUNCH! Newport away. An embarrassment on the cards. Ten minutes to go. The knives were out. The articles written. CRUNCH! Kane equalises and then we all got to laugh at Liverpool fucking it against WBA.
Talking of which. Liverpool away. The game of the season. What a game. I'm still recovering from it. We start slowly like usual. And then bang, 1-1 and then a crunch moment we do bottle. Then Salah scores and it looks like we've fucked it. Injury time at Anfield, their fans are up, the game is lost. CRUNCH! Penalty. Kane makes amends and we finish above them by a point. CRUNCH!
Arsenal at home. We're four points above them going into that game. They've signed Mik and Aby and smashed Everton. They're being written up and a chance to close the gap to one point. CRUNCH! We go out and totally play them off the park. They're lucky to get out with a 1-0 defeat. The gap is now 7, we're 4 off second and we've ended their season. CRUNCH!
Juve away. 2 down in ten minutes. CRUNCH. Ok we ultimately go out (a defeat that hurts more than I can remember) but to battle back and put them in their place having not conceded at home for however long it was, was superb.
Chelsea away, the old bastards. 28 years, one down. We all know what's going to happen...but it doesn't. We battle back to win, scoring three. CRUNCH. Lose that and we'd have finished 5th.
Stoke away the next week. Huge to follow up with another win.
Watford, Newcastle and Leicester. CRUNCH! Not great performances but brilliant results.
Kane with 30 league goals, smashing Madrid and Liverpool, finishing 3rd...I'm really proud of the lads. I think we're all knackered after that season but it was so important to go into the new stadium with CL football 8/10

Also, we continue to struggle to manage the crunch games, or even the crunch moments/periods within the crunch games. Both the players on the pitch, and the manager off it. If we want to make that final step to winning things then this is the main thing that I feel we need to master. It didn't happen this year, hopefully next......
This has been bugging me for a few weeks now, and it's not just you, but are crunch games only the ones we lose? We seem to forget the ones that we've won or dealt with well.

I'm happy with the season but for me it was a 7. We did what we expected and did what the pundits didn't expect.

I can't give it a higher mark without winning a pot

To play at Wembley all season and to finish 3rd is a fantastic achievement, who wouldv'e though we would have done that after the crap start we had there? Still remember sitting in a bar in Italy watching that loss to Chelsea thinking it was going to be one long season.

Would've been a 9 if we had held our lead against Juventus, such a massive blow that game but the one positive is that we beat some good teams in Europe this season and hopefully they will learn a lot from the experiences this season. FA Cup semi was hard to take as well but then Mourinho and United know how to win.

I would say our transfer business was disappointing again. Other than Sanchez, I'm pretty disappointed. I think Lucas could be decent with a pre-season under his belt but Aurier and Llorente don't look good enough. Foyth has potential and Gazzaniga is fine considering it was a low fee. We need a much better transfer window this summer if we are to push on from where we are, we are standing still and need to try and push on. Yeah it could backfire but will we ever be in a better position to try and push on and win trophies than we are now?

I'd go with a 7 as well.
Some outstanding performances, but then some really bad ones.
Failure to produce in a cup semi final doesn't help matters as it seems to be something we can't get over.
In discussion with an Arsenal fan at work at the start of the season, I said the Wembley hoodoo would be proven to be bollocks, whereas he thought it would see us drop into top 6 at best.
Unfortunately he's no longer with us, as I'd LOVE to have that discussion now.
My only real disappointment is that I didn't get to as many games as I had planned to - managed four at the start of the season and then dropped off completely.

At the start of the season i would have taken 3rd place or 4th all day long - but as the season progresses expectations change and i feel after the win at Chelsea - 2nd place and the FA Cup were a very real possibility - that said all in all another season qualifying for the CL is always a good season.

CL group stage games etc. and the run of the mill league game are not, with respect, the very biggest of occasions. Semi finals, CL knock out games, League games that are all or nothing/title deciders are. We still haven't been able to get over the line so to speak and deal with those 'everything's on the line today' highest pressure games like that. We've often seen silly errors in these games, managed to collapse at fatal moments, and generally not seen the best of the team. That is still something we need to overcome.

Yeah, I think that's too simplistic, and you're always gonna end up disappointed more often than not whatever team you support if that's the gauge. One team can win each competition, at the beginning there four trophies we could win, but were outsiders for all of them. You can't just ignore the games that get you to the semi-final, or the last 16 or whatever.

I get that we want trophies, and success, but there are 4/5 really strong contenders for domestic cups, that in any one off game we could come out on top, or not. And in Europe there's how many?

I'm not saying let's not strive for more, or be disappointed that we haven't got further, but let's not wash away all the good from the history books in the process.

+dicking real madrid
+ 30 goal season from Harry
+ Eriksen establishing himself as world class imo
- An utter shite spammers dicking us out the cup.
