Well Rose was stranded up the pitch ,Vertonghen was forced out wide and Capoue didnt drop quickly enough to fill in at CB, It was inept all round really, but to place all the blame on Capoue is a little stupid.

Not at all,

Capoue tracks his man no goal

Simple as that.

So there were no mistakes in the build up to that goal other than Capoue losing Henderson? Liverpool managed to get in to that position to play the ball without any other individual pieces of poor play or poor positioning from a Spurs player?

Yes we played poorly and got spanked. But you ladies need to grow some balls because all this bloodletting is ridiculous after 3 games. This is going to be a transition season like it or not and we met a better side who showed us up.

The deficiencies are obvious and we can improve on these but its going to be a work in progress.

Once Pochettino has a few more months with the players, we will notice the difference but expecting miracles right now its being naive. Once the players fully understand the system we will improve. I am looking forward to seeing our team get better this season as it unfolds. I am not expecting to see it right now because that is simply ridiculous.

One thing I will say is that there are some obvious deficiencies at the moment. Poch needs to continue to work on them.

5 - Lloris was poor with his distributon and the kicking was atrocious. However he had a two very nervous CB's in front of him.
5 - Kaboul and Vertonghen both look poor and static. Kaboul seems like an accident waiting to happen. The failure to pick up Balotelli in the opening 20 minutes was a sign of things to come.
6 - Rose was partly at fault for the first goal but he provided an outlet for us on the left and I thought he was solid. Probably the best player out of a poor lot.
6 - Dier was at fault for the penalty but otherwise I thought he was solid. A good learning curve for the youngster. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!
4.5 - Capoue was particularly poor and I would have expected him or Bentaleb to be picking up Sterling for the first goal. He sat too deep at times and didnt link with the forwards. He was too casual and didn't provide cover to the CB's.
4.5 - Bentaleb looked overawed. His passing was poor and he could not get he ball out quickly enough so our runners were closed down quickly.
6.5 - Eriksen was not as bad as some make out. I thought he had a strong first half. Really none of the front MF 3 did well today.
6 - Lamela huffed and puffed and tried his hardest but it was a bad day at the office for him. Still he was one of the few trying to press consistently.
6.5 - Ade was not able to get service but I thought he tried hard and got into good positions. He struggled as lone striker as Chadli provided no support.
5 - Chadli had a poor game. I thought he wandered in and out and let Liverpool boss him.

The substitutions didn't work out and the referees decisions didn't run our way. Look it wasn't pretty and Liverpool had a better quality player today who were committed and prepared to drive forward in a direct way. We struggled with this. Again this needs to be sorted.

We are missing a clever MF player who can pass. I dont know if Schneiderlin is that player but if he is why the hell were we so slow to go after him? We allowed Liverpool to snatch 3 of their players while we just sat on our hands. Atrociously poor behaviour buy Levy and Franco. Why were we waiting for Saints to sell 6 players before we made our move. Its a fucking scandal especially if your coach wants the player to make his system tick. Pathetic really but then what do you expect from Levy and ENIC?

We are also a striker away from 4th position as I cant see Ade or Soldado firing us into 4th place. A bit of work then over the next few hours.

Very depressing watching. The players that worry me the most are Kaboul and Capoue. They are simply not up to it at the highest level . Bentaleb is not ready to play against the top teams yet and unfortunately it showed again today. I like the look of Stambouli from the few clips I have seen because he looks like he could add a lot of energy and protection for our back 4. But 2 seasons ago we looked solid in midfield when Sandro and Dembele played together and I am yet to be convinced that Capoue and Bentaleb are better options.
Kaboul has to go. He looks the liability he was during his first spell at the club. Hopefully Fazio is better. Even Chiriches is better than Kaboul.
Oh and up front Welbeck's pace and goal threat would be an option worth having .

He put in comfortably one of the shittest performances I've seen for a while. Summed up by when he tackled Chadli just to give it straight back to Liverpool. Pathetic performance.

You can disagree all you like @scat1620. He lost two thirds of his headers. Lost the ball 4 times out of 7 when he tried to take someone on. 0% shots on target or crosses on target. Over 2/3rds of his passes were backward or square. Consistently offside and in no position to receive a pass. Generally wank.

Although Townsend was robbed of the ball as soon as he came on the pitch, where was the cover behind him?

Time and time again in that game our fullbacks were exposed. Liverpool seemed to get acres of space in the wide positions, which was match suicide with their ability. Spurs seemed to play with a total lack of width in attack and in defence. But ultimately, Liverpool were a better side and it was clear that our new system is going to take a while to settle in.

Not much to choose from with regards to player ratings. Of note for me:-

Dier:- looked a little out of sorts on the right as he kept drifting toward the middle and left us exposed a few times. 5

Kaboul:- Very disappointed in the big man. Not sure if it's form blip post injuries, but a shadow of his former self. Error ridden. 3.

Eriksen:- I'm hoping this is just early season jitters whilst getting used to a new system of play. I had to get out my Lennon detector from last season to see if he was still on the pitch. Poor. 4

Townsend:- Makes me unhappy as I really want him to be a success. Poor. 3.

Chadli:- Did more than the other attackers, but still not a great display. 6.

Still, this will give Poch a lot to think about as the squad is far from the finished article.

Of course, there was a major fuck up out on the touchline.

It was a transition situation, where I want my DM doing his primary work.

Tracking runners, covering gaps and snuffing out dangers.

Capoue did none of the above, therefore waste of space.

I do disagree. That's why I rated Disagree: it's no biggy. I thought Adebayor was ineffective but worked hard today. Unlike many of our players who I thought were equally, if not more, ineffective, and who I felt didn't work hard. I'm sure that equally unflattering stats exist for all 11 players out there today; nobody had a performance to write home about. You don't agree? Fine.

Pooch's team selection was questionable in places and his subs were very poor.
He was appointed as he is meant to know how to beat the better teams,
but there was no sign of that today.
He made no attempt to change the pattern of the game and the players were not up for it.
Maybe he'll have better days but today he gets a 2/10.

The good news is that he has lots of evidence now of what is wrong and he has at least a year to put it all right. We can chart his progress. Or lack of progress...

Just got back

The crowd was shocking, I always sit shelf side but this time sat lower tier and only a couple of us actually supported the team. Its easy to see why the teams heads go down the place turns in to morgue after the second goal went in. Really pissed me off that a season ticket holder only spent 40mins of the whole game actually watching the football.

Poochie the dawg got it wrong today, Rodgers made it 41212 to stop us playing in the middle and we had no answer, he also got pressing high but they were a bunch of dirty basterds. We couldn't handle Sturridge and Balotelli pushing up on our CB's and Lloris had to kick out way too much:banghead:. We needed a CM on and go 433 imo. Or stop the interchanging and push up and wide Lamela and Chadli

We never attacked their fullbacks who were the weak points defensively. Not to mention we had no option b striker wise(though not Poch's fault)

Bringing on townsend, was shocking as well, since he fitness is shit and the guy hasn't got any confidence. As soon as he got on the pitch I feared the worst. Didn't help he got abuse before he touched the ball. I stuck up for him alot but he has to go to get his confidence back. Its a shame.

This isn't an anti Poch post, but just though he needed to change it after the team couldn't fully apply the philosophy

Ade was annoying btw, he had a off day and it wasn't a game for Kane imo

Please guys crawl out of Lamelas arsehole

Bar Townsend he was the worst player on the pitch.

He looked a showpony today and no substance. Poor decision making, poor passing, just fucking poor.

Yep, he was awful, kept doing the same thing over and over again with no success (isn't that a sign of madness)

He needed to just keep popping the ball off simple and wait for openings.

I can't fault him for effort, but these are the times where you need an experienced leader to have a word in his ear to keep it simple.

Taking Eriksen off didn't help, I didn't agree with this substitution at all.

hugo 5 only one save of note ( from balo) and plenty of poor kicking
dier 5 silly challenge given allen still had a lot to do, one or two good runs but looked hurried on the ball
rose 5 made very few tackles count, didnt trouble their rb
kaboom 3 didnt hold the line for the first or come across for the third, slow on the turn, hope he becomes choice 4 or 5 for cb
vert 5 embarrassed several times by sterling but always looks uneasy alongside kabs against pace
caps 5 didnt influence proceedings, poor tracking of henderson for the first
bents 5 sublime pass for ades key miss but always off the pace against the best
eriksen 5 ran hard but no end product, awful corners
erik 4 didnt give up but nothing he tried came off
chad 6 struck his key chance sweetly but straight at mignolet, worked hard
ade 5 crap finish and kept getting in the way of others in possession when he should have been making runs

dembele for me did well and hed be in my eleven unless his hip, ankle or whatever slows him down.

harry k comes on when the pen goes in, surely though? poch?

This is controversial, but I am still not convinced with Lamela, a lot of times I have seen him up against a defender face on, and seems to run out of ideas sharpish and his way of play makes it easy for opponents to dispossess him.
Not really theres about 10 of you who pop and say he aint worth it.
After 5 games you would think people would give him a chance, but no they don't.
They weren't here last week though, they must have been on holiday.

Rose didn't track his man or cover the gap either. The cross came from where Rose should have been. It was a collective balls up
